Pacific rim review

Glad you loved it, so did I! (: But I have some good and bad news. The good news is that Guillermo said for the sequel there will be a Gypsy Danger 2.0. A Mexican Jaeger (Matador Fury) that couldn't be in the first film due to the budget. As well as some sort of melding between a Kaiju and a Jaeger. The bad news is, we might not get a sequel if Pacific Rim doesn't make a good profit at the box office. So, let's all hope that more people go to see it!

Meld between a kaiju and Jaeger? I know from the movie.*spoiler* Newt Geiszler and Hermann Gottleib did mind meld with a kaiju brain (Newt did twice really) and we know now Hannibal Chau did before too. (He and Newt have that scarred eye from the side effects of mind melding solo with a kaiju brain. ) I hope there is a sequel. Everyone I've met at Godzilla Fest have liked it, with a few complaints on the ending fight or the human characters. Other than that people liked it. I did notice the scene from the trailer where Newt talks to Raleigh on understanding kaiju and Ral saying it's best to blow them up is not in the movie. Maybe the dvd will have it and a lot more alternate and deleted scenes not in the movie due to timing. We also don't see Otachi's tail turn into it's own kaiju as I've read was the plan. The last kaiju battle could have been a bit better,but was good. The Hong Kong battle was the coolest fight next to the opening kaiju fight with Knifehead. :) I like the kaijuologists. Raleigh pointed out Newt's tattoos and some kaiju on those tattoos that are not in the movie, but named in the tats. I wish we could have seen Reckoner alive and the Kaiju Cult. (the MMM book does show the cult in detail, but not the movie. ) The OniBaba scene was cool if not scary. That kaiju wanted to murder young Mako Mori. Hunting her down like a piece of meat. There are some good character moments between the main cast. Stacker Pentecost is my favorite human character. Knifehead, Otachi, Leatherback, Scunner, Raiju, and Slattern are awesome. I wish the movie showed more of them.

Raiju and Slattern were two of my favorites, besides Otachi. I really wish they would have been given more screen time, and a bit of a better showing. I'm fairly curious about how another movie would work out. Will mankind try to rebuild the Jaeger program? Or will we try to brew up Kaiju of our own? I really hope this movie does well, and can get a sequel with an even bigger budget...but we'll see. My fingers are crossed.

Not to nitpick Dude, but Hannible did not ever use the drift. As explained in the film, and the wiki, he was hurt in a public bunker, so that's why he made his own personal shelter. That's why when he told them to take a way Newt he told him he knew what it was like to be in a public one and pointed to his eye.

I liked how the government is like: "Let's build a wall to keep out Kaiju and then decommission the only thing that has worked against them so far." And then Sydney so kindly points out why that's a terrible idea by wrecking the city. Anyways, i know how the Jaeger/Kaiju meld is going to work. Gipsy Danger is the only Jaeger to make it into the Breach, so i believe that Gispy 2 and the Gipsy/kaiju will end up having a fight. However, i am curious as to how the Kaiju will return,considering we destroyed their portal.

The aliens are very advanced. They'll find a way to come back. If they can master doorways into other dimensions they can solve this setback. I am curious on how was this breach discovered? The movie never explained this. Neither did the prequel graphic novel.

Jaeger / Kaiju combination? Friend or foe? or maybe 'd create a Jaeger and incorporate some Kaiju parts (or maybe turn Kaiju remains into powder and powder coat the Jaeger armor) so they can cross the rift without actually needing a Kaiju? Whatever they decide, I hope this movie makes tons of money so we're assured of a sequel / prequel or whatnot. :)

I'd rather have a prequel over a sequel. The movie itself is at the end of the Kaiju war, so I'd love to see how the Jaeger program got to its knees. There were at least 40 jaegers, and only 4 remain by the events of the movie... so those must have been really intense battles! I'd love to see Coyote Tango's fight that lead to Mako Mori's adoption, I'd love to see Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon kick ass (they had 6-7 kills prior to the movie events), I'd love to see Romeo Blue's first fight and I'd love to see the South American jaegers too.
