MemberCompsognathusJun-27-2013 9:15 PMHey guys,
I just started this thread because I'm sick of having a divided fan base.
Ever since Jurassic Park 3, there has been a Jurassic Park Cold War being fought between Rex Fans and Spino Fans......enough. It is getting to the point where we don't give a damn about the dinosaurs and are just trying to prove we are right and never wrong. Any animal has a chance at killing another animal the instance I always use to describe this Ex. A Coral snake bites a human, there is no anti-venom for coral snake poison so the human dies. (Small animal kills big one) a mouse spreading the plague in the dark ages (Again small animal kills big one).
These animals would never meet under any circumstance but that is not why I'm asking for you all to stop the argument. Spinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus were designed to fill their own unique niches Spinosaurus- Fish Terrorizer, Croc killer, Dino Intimidator and Tyrannosaurus- Bone Cruncher, Triceratops Dueler, and Fiercely over-protective parent.
T-rex can kill spino and spino can kill rex end of story, there is no "Spino or Rex would win 8/10 times." Bull Crap! You have no way of knowing for sure, just as much as you don't know if you'll have a heart attack tomorrow and die or choke to death on your food.
It is literally becoming a insult game where people are just cussing each other out and bashing each other because they think the other person is wrong. Also enough of calling everyone a liar you guys, every lie has some truth to it. Seriously let's grow up here.
Before JP3 came along, the JP Fan base was relatively unified and we didn't have the same problems we do now. Drop the arguments and be the better men. Remember being a paleontologist isn't about being right all the time, it is learning as much as you can about dinosaurs and bringing them to light for all the world to see, admire, and enjoy. Join me in making the change.
Test Question: What if I said a pack of Velociraptors could beat a T-Rex or a Spinosaurus? What would you say after reading this?
I'm hoping and confident someone will have the right answer :)

MemberCompsognathusJun-27-2013 10:47 PMWell said, but it is kinda fun to share your opinion and fight for it. Spino would win, trex would win, raptor would win, we don't know which. And if T. rex happened to meet a Spino, then a fight might ensu, but we truly know so little about these guys, that we can't predict an accurate outcome. And please tell me one thing that we know about these any dinosaur , it have to be something that we truly know, not gust have a good guess. An I'd say it could go either way. But the fight has just become something that unites, and differs us, and it is good to have this separation.

MemberCompsognathusJun-28-2013 5:17 AMVelociraptor vs Rex or Spino? Could be cool but we'd never know for sure. All we can do is guess and estimate and argue, but no matter what, there will never be peace. Jurassic Park is built on Spinosaurus and T-Rex with Velociraptor as support. It is only natural to compare the two biggest and baddest dinosaurs from the franchise, even though it gets annoying.

MemberCompsognathusJun-28-2013 7:08 AMWell put. I would agree with you, in that there are a few extremes on each team who get overly angry and upset when their dinosaur is insulted, and that does need to stop.
Here's where I think you're wrong: The division of the Jurassic Park fanbase in regards to Spino and Rex is totally OK. It's fun to juggle around the statistics and root the dinos against each other. But I agree with you that this sort of argumentation should not spread to outside that individual competition. And of course the cussing and namecalling needs to stop. Like you, I've read threads in forums where I'm just shaking my head wondering "is this what Jurassic Park debates have come to?"
So I definitely think there needs to be change, but I don't think throwing around stats and rooting Spino and Rex against each other in itself should be put to a stop. I also think that the mature members of this forum should be watching out for the stuff you're talking about and speak out when it comes up (which @Airman Rex has done by opening this thread) to let people know when they've crossed a line.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexJun-28-2013 7:33 AMYou do have a good point. Things have gotten better with some of the extremists in the past week or so though.
Velociraptor vs T-Rex/Spino would be interesting. If it was the over-size JP Velos, it would probably take 5 or more to win. If it was real life sized Velos, probably 10 at least (just making a guess because as you said, we can't accurately compare any dinosaur to another).

MemberTyrannosaurus RexJun-28-2013 7:36 AMForgot that the T-Rex/Spino debates are fun when no one gets mad and they just ask a simple question about it. An example of this would be with me and S-Rex in my most recent discussion.

MemberCompsognathusJun-28-2013 2:38 PMThere is nothing wrong with the debate itself. However, you are right that the people who, on both teams, think they know everything really should stop. You know who you are. Anyways, the Tyrannosaurus Spinosaurus debate is ok, but don't get carried away.
