Top 10 Marine Predators This is a subjective ranking of several representatives of different clades of marine predators, based on criteria of size, ferocity, dominance, evolutionary success, intelligence, speed and strength. It shows only my opinion, so your personal list probably looks different. 10. Cretoxyrhina mantelli A lamniform elasmobranch that lived during the middle Cretaceous Cenomanian and Santonian periods. It reached a length of 9m and a weight of 6t. 9. Dunkleosteus terelli An arthrodian placoderm that lived during the Devonian period. It reached a length of 10m and a weight of 6-9t. Carcharocles megalodon A lamniform elasmobranch that lived during the entire Neogene period. It reached a length of 20m and a weight of 80-90t. Honorable mentions: Physeter macrocephalus An odontocete cetacean that lives during the Quarternary period. It reaches a length of 16-26m and a weight of 56-90t. It was excluded due to being primarily a squid eater. Carcharodon carcharias A lamniform elasmobranch that lives during the Quarternary period. It reaches a length of 6-7m and a weight of 3t. It was excluded due to the limited number of spots on the list. Brygmophyseter A odontocete cetacean that lived during the Miocene period. It reached a length of 7-12m and a weight of 4-12t. It was excluded because I didn't remember it until I finished the list, and by then I couldn't find a place to fit it. Other exclusions were Otodus, C. chubutensis, Kronosaurus, Predator X, Megalneusaurus, Simolestes, Hainosaurus, Tylosaurus and Prognathodon. They were excluded because other more deadly members of their families occupied the list. Shonisaurus popularis and Shastasaurus sikanniensis were also excluded, mainly because they were giant but generally harmless squid suckers like the sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus). See the outdated video version here, with some slight differences.

Not a bad lineup. I would defiantly include Brygmophyseter. I would include Liopleurodon. My estimates put it at 85 ft and 150 tons, but even the smaller estimates, 30-40 ft and 10-20 tons, still make it big. Just my thoughts. Why don't you check out my lineup. Btw, I don't think Cretoxyrhina should be here. If your gonna put a paleoshark that's not Megaladon on this list I think it should be Stethocanthis. Good lineup though. Some of the rankings are out of order. Are you new? I've never seen your name here
