Effects that could change a T-Rex/Spino fight

I decided to list some things that could in a major or minor way, effect a battle between T-Rex and Spinosaurus. Terrain: If it was dense jungle, T-Rex, being smaller in physical size, would have an advantage over Spino because it could probably maneuver better, and Spino could damage it's sail on a low branch or get pushed into a tree. If it was an open plain, the fight could go either way. T-Rex could get a few good shots in, as could Spino. I think it would go slightly in Rex's favour (51-49) because it was likely smarter than Spino, and could probably wait longer. If it was in or near water, Spino would more than likely win more often. Spino could lead/drag Rex (more likely lead) into deep water and just destroy it from there. I just listed the terrain. Feel free to add anything else I didn't like motive, overall knowledge of the area, some terrains I missed, etc.

Great analysis. I feel the same way. I like that you gave a terrain in favor of each, but also a neutral terrain.

Thanks. I left out something else that could give Rex a slight advantage over Spino on a plain. Because it was shorter and had (I know, I know) a massive bite force, if the timing was right, it could get underneath Spino, and rip it's neck open. This was unlikely though, but might put the odds ever so slightly in Rex's favour.

It is also the circumstances. If they were fighting over a kill or territory, it could go either way. However, if it was a large bull rex defending it's family or a female defending her offspring, it's rex all the way. Terrain does not matter in this case. A lot of evidence points to T-rex being a "family" oriented dinosaur. This includes a site in S. Dakota or Montana, can't remember which to be honest, that has multiple Tyrannosaurus' of different sizes and ages. T-rex's cousins like Albertosaurus and Yutyrannus seem to be pack animals too. Although family behavior in Spinosaurus has not really been studied a lot, Spino seems like a solitary animal. Just another circumstance that could drastically effect the battle. I kinda said circumstances when I said motives. But, that is a great point and if it were not essential to one or the other, it could go either way. But if it was important (like family or desperately hungry), it would likely go towards the one that is defending.

I feel in the end, size and weaponry don't mean nothing! It all comes down to who's gonna fight harder. A male polar bear may be twice the size of a female, but if she is defending her cubs, that male better watch out. Same goes for dinosaurs. Especially dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus which seem to be family oriented.

In Jurassic Park 3 they made Spino win. In reality the T-rex would have killed the Spino when he had a hold of Spino's neck. T-rex jaws are specialised in killing armored prey with a bone crushing force. Spinosaurus jaws are specialized in snatching quik slipery prey with razor sharp teeth.

You forgot one very important Terrain: The tall Grass

Both are killed by Utahraptor-sized Velociraptors

Don't go into the tall grass...

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-
