Welcome ladies and gentleman, to my daily DinoFight. I always appreciate my loyal readers, but for those of you who are new, every day I pit two of the most formidable dinosaurs to ever exist against one another in a fight to the death (most of the time). Medium division, round 1, fight 6: Yutyrannus vs Megalosaurus Yutyrannus Height: 12 feet Length: 30 feet Weight: 2 tons Speed: 25+ mph Diet: Various herbivores Weapons: Bite Description: Yutyrannus Huali translates to beautiful feathered tyrant. It is the largest known feathered dinosaur and an important clue that not only small dinosaurs were covered in dino-fuzz. Seriously. It didn't have real feathers, which were yet to evolve, but rather feathers filaments like the downy coat of a baby duck. While it wouldn't be all that terrifying to be chased by a baby duck twice your size (which was about twice as smart as Yutyrannus), it would be terrifying if that duck had a 3 foot long T-Rex head filled with razor sharp teeth. It also was a social dinosaur, quite possibly capable of forming impromptu packs like the later Tyrannosaurus for taking out larger prey, only to disband shortly after. Being a tyrannosaur, it was powerfully built with an exceptionally high bite force. The dinosaur was also fast, capable of running over 25 mph for a distance. Megalosaurus Height: 12 feet Length: 30 feet Weight: 2 tons Speed: 25+ mph Diet: Various herbivores Weapons: Bite Description: Megalosaurus was a fairly average looking theropod, but what sets it apart from every single other dinosaur is the honor it holds as being the first dinosaur ever scientifically described. It was actually also very similar to its close relatives Altispinax, Becklespinax and Acrocanthosaurus with its elongated vertebral spines, which supported a muscle ridge. It also had a powerful bite that was capable of subduing large prey like sauropods, which were the most common herbivores of the Jurassic period. On Isla Nublar and Sorna, however, it is given a wider variety of prey and is able to thrive like never before. With hooked claws that dug into prey to hold them still while delivering the death bite, it could take down nearly any dinosaur it wanted once the claws hooked in. FIGHT! Since Jurassic Park was shut down on the islands, site B has become a testing site for the revival of prehistoric dinosaurs of all kinds, along with prehistoric plants. In a remote part of the island, ancient mushrooms over 30 feet tall grow. Among them walks a Megalosaurus. The theropod walks along in the mist, the morning sun shining down on his back. He sniffs the air for prey, and can tell there is an injured Stegosaurus deeper in the fungi forest. He hurries towards the scent, but in his pursuit he steps on something's tail. Whatever it was yelps out a short high pitched roar in surprise. The Megalosaurus turns to see a Yutyrannus stand from his bed on the ground, groggily shaking his head. He looks at the Megalosaurus and roars as loud as he can to scare him off. The Megalosaurus roars back, challenging him. The Yutyrannus roars once again, stepping forward. The Megalosaurus does so as well and they are now just a few feet away. The Yutyrannus courageously makes the first move and meets the Megalosaurus chest-to-chest in a shoving match. Megalosaurus is caught off guard and stumbles back, but digs his claws into the ground and pushes back. The Yutyrannus starts to move back but bites the Megalosaurus' back to distract him before using his head to ram him to the ground. Not easily broken, the Megalosaurus quickly gets up and rams the tyrannosaur back, pushing him to the ground in front of one of the skyscraper mushrooms. As soon as he stands up, the Megalosaurus runs full steam ahead and slams him into the mushroom. It creaks and cracks before falling towards the ground. A troop of small monkeys run off of it and through the legs of the Megalosaurus. The Yutyrannus stands up slowly and as the Megalosaurus charges again, he ducks out of the way and the Megalosaurus trips over the stump of the mushroom. The Yutyrannus takes advantage and bites the tail of the Megalosaurus. He shakes his head and tears off a thin piece of flesh, now causing the Megalosaurus to roar in pain and get up. He whips around and snaps his jaws shut inches from the Yutyrannus' face, which managed to jump back. He tries again and lands a bite to the snout successfully. The agonized Yutyrannus spins in circles trying to shake him off, and fortunately trips over the fallen mushroom. The Megalosaurus lays on top of the Yutyrannus. The Yutyrannus pushes the Megalosaurus off with his powerful legs, sending him smashing into another mushroom. Unexpectedly, it falls towards them and lands over them with a thud. Although a little hurt, they manage to break through the spongy mushroom, the squishiness of which luckily saved them. The Megalosaurus limps back a little, and luckily the Yutyrannus is a little battered, too. Giving one final roar before departing, the Megalosaurus limps away in defeat. WINNER: YUTYRANNUS I decided to let the prestigious Megalosaurus survive relatively unscathed, even if defeated. The two were actually very evenly matched: same size, same speed, same build. The only thing that set them apart was bite. The bite of the Yutyrannus was greater and would have given it a slight advantage that would be crucial in such an even fight. Odds: 52-48 Questions? Comments? Call for a rematch? Let me know.

I love the first pic of Yutyrannus. Makes him look wise and brave. Nice choice.

Thanks. I thought it displayed the regality of the tyrannosaurs, especially Yurytannus.

It really does. The second one shows their true nature. Vicious, won't back down, predators, lol. I still like the first one a lot. Can't get over it. I may like it more than the fight itself, if that's possible.

If I have a favorite Tyrannosaur, Yutyrannus is it. T-Rex is cool, but these pictures show how badass Y-Ty was.

I know right. Yutyrannus is among my favorite dinosaurs. I liked the first pic so much I had to use it for my Yutyrannus page on my site, haha

The fighters in Season 2 are more entertaining for one thing. The first was great, but those were all relatively small dinosaurs. Now they are starting to get really big which is great.

I don't know but that was really random, haha

Lol you're so random. It sure seems like it, doesn't it? Huge octopus shaped globsters wash up occasionally. Being that they live in holes and deep water, it would be a rare occasion that they washed up, and they would be in poor condition like the blobs usually are.

The fight itself might, but I doubt the pics will. That first Yutyrannus pic is so awesome! I can't get over it, haha
