Just want to know what everyone's favourite non-Spino Spinosaur is. Kind of just following up with my favourite Tyrannosaur discussion. My favourite non-Spino Spinosaur is probably Baryonx (I think that is how you spell it).

Does Oxalaia count? If not, then Suchomimus.

Suchomimus was alright. Baryonyx was cool too with that huge thumb claw. I've actually seen people classify Acrocanthosaurus as a spinosaur. It had the spine, but everything else was allosaurid.

Yeah, why would Acrocanthosaurus be considered a spinosauridae? The skull doesn't match up, and neither do the arms. This needs some major reconsideration, because Acrocanthosaurus is very Allosaurid like, as Rex Fan stated. People are weird sometimes...

I see where they come from with the sail of course. Perhaps Acro was indeed a spinosaur. Maybe a very primitive one. They seem to be related to the megalosaurs which are similar to the more advanced allosaurs. Perhaps Acro was a primitive spinosaur that started to change it's body plan slightly, the sail, but still retained a very allosaurian body. Just a thought. It's a stretch I know, but it's a thought.

Siamosaurus is cool. Reminds me of Acrocanthosaurus with more of a Spinosaurid build.

I think Ichthyovenator is unique. It had a wierd chip in the spine... But is neovenator a Spinosaur?

Neovenator was an allosaurian dinosaur. Cousin of Carcharodontosaurus, Mapusaurus, Allosaurus, etc

And Rex Fan, your "stretched though" would be pretty accurate I think. Acrocanthosaurus may have been an evolutionary forerunner of early Spinosauridae.

Thanks. If it was, then perhaps the Spinosaurs originated in N. America with Acro or something like it, then they migrated to S. America and then Africa via land bridges. One way it could have gone at least.

So my favourite Spinosaur debate turned into an Acrosanthosaurus debate? I don't mind, whatever keeps us busy. I never really thought if Acro was a Spinosaur or Allosaur.

I guess it did. Sorry that I brought it up, haha. It did turn into an interesting discussion though.

That's fine that it kind of became an Acrocanthosurus debate. It is interesting to hear everyone's opinion on different things.

Yeah. If Acro was a spinosaur, it would be among my favorites.
