Inetresting, there is only two people left from Prometheus, what new set of characters would there be in this episode of the continuing story? There would be a lot for just Shaw communicating just with David-Head-Body all the way through 'Paradise' or some alien Engineers, a tall order just to expect Shaw and David to be the main characters carrying the whole movie from begining to end.

the most obvious characters that might be introduced will probably be yutani possibly wyeland employees as well

@Hypernova I think we may or may not be done with that Deacon. But we may see many other types of Aliens when they get to Paradise anyway. I strongly believe Paradise is also the Alien home world and has become the victim of a massive outbreak of the bio-weapon and Ridley is still taking us to the Alien homeworld... He just couldn't bring himself to use Call and Ripley as the original plan for Alien 5 called for, things were looked at, then AVP killed the franchise for a few years. They developed the jockey and homeworld ideas into prequel concepts and split the movie exploring the jockeys and the alien home world into two prequels. One to introduce much of the setup and make us care about these two new characters. One to actually take these characters to the Alien home world for the first time, and the horrors that await them there, which is also the Elder's home. They needed a reason to go there, a reason to be another team of characters who are exploring things out in space. As flimsy as Shaw's reasoning may seem at times it's all about exploring and discovering the origins of everything...

well either there will be much more dialogue/character involvement for the engineers or there will have to be a detour whereby other humans will be introduced that or a parallel story i have a suspicion there may have been one or more surprise survivors from the expedition to lv233, the stimline/gravity chamber/other unused medical device concepts hint that badly injured or even dead persons may if rescued be revived back on mars or earth!!!!! so who knows! "ANTI-GRAVITY RECOVERY CHAMBER" Anti-Gravity Recovery Chambers are a highly sophisticated technology used in hospitals and rehabilitation centers. Research has shown that patients in anti-gravity conditions exhibit a 70% faster recovery rate from traumatic injury or disease. Weyland scientists designed a room-sized facility that simulates anti-gravity on a particulate level. Patients can receive the benefits of anti-gravity treatment while remaining comfortably in bed. This product is currently under limited release exclusively in major metropolitan areas on earth."

theres a sort of first aid diagnostic thing but its the two above that make me think either vickers and or weyland may be recovered if only for a bedside/tankside scene where they instruct someone to go off after davids head after all hes quite valuabe to the company and for all we know they can track his position..... shaw may unwittingly be guiding some very unworthy people to paradises location!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone representing Yutani is a must. We need some update on what it is they know about Weyland's mission, because they're all over the viral stuff. They're also the other leading power of the Earth at this time if Weyland is a "king". In my view, Yutani doesn't necessarily enter the story as antagonists, simply as inquisitors who've been monitoring the situation. However, I think they get wrapped up in what David has planned next and their representative ends up joining Shaw and David on their trip to the homeworld to examine giant bones even bigger than the Engineers and the Elders like a big happy family. Sort of like what Cameron and Ridley wanted to do for alien 5, except Paradise is the Engineer/Elder homeworld now as well as possibly the Alien home-world Ridley and Cameron wanted to go to. David and Shaw are getting us there without having to use a resurrected Ripley... and they'll be examining more giant dead bodies there as a unit instead of Hicks, Ripley and Newt like one of the ways Cameron wanted to go with Alien 3. Making them like a swiss family robinson in space. Instead we have these new characters to explore the home world. So we need someone else to join them on their space adventures to the home world. They'd stop at Gateway station as it's being finished and opened for the first time... David deceived Shaw, he is taking her to Paradise but he says he needs to make a stop first. The docking technology is not compatible and David needs to persuade her to get her aboard the station, which gives Shaw some time to make a daring escape across space within a suit & into the station only to fall into the company's hands. David is only playing ball with the Weyland reps because he wants to influence their decisions about the Engineers in this remote outpost and lead them to certain actions. He betrays shaw and offers up his account of what happen to the Weyland reps. He's preparing to hand Shaw off for questioning and the technology to the company who has just finished establishing Gateway station. Yutani is already aboard the station investigating Weyland's activities. They interrupt it all and force David and Shaw back together to continue the journey to Paradise where they meet the Elders and find the bones of another bigger type of creature that also once lived there. Paradise was once full of life but now most of it is flooded and most of the land masses look more like the Alien homeworld Ridley and Cameron wanted to visit.

I do feel though that Vickers got crushed to death - the Vickers WE know-of, or knew-of anyway. Ridley Scott pretty-much says so during the Audio Commentary of the Prometheus Blue-Ray disc where he says something like arrgh! crushed! or Arrgh! sqashed! Or something like that. It's a neat idea to think that perhaps the Deacon stealthly followed them (Shaw & David-Head) and stowed away somehow aboard the second (commandeered) Juggernaught or crawled onto the side of the hull somehow. Although we see it edited as the ship that Shaw/David-Head is in lifts off first and the Deacon hatches afterwards we do not know whether-or-not it took longer than expected for her and he to find the entrance to the second site/pyramid/ temple, get down there, get into the second Juggernaught ship, power-up its systems, wait for the hanger bay 'petals' to open up then lift off out of the hangar pit, ascend towards higher orbit then fly off into deep space and presumably beyond. While lal that was going on the Deacon, in the meantime, could have been going through its birthing process, perhaps accelorated birthing process from within the Engineers body and thus began systematically hunting around for solutions to its current predicament being marooned with no-one presumably or no thing to interact with or devour - if it needs to. Also, given that it was birthed from within the Engineer and assumed some of his host biological attributes is it not a stretch of the imagination that it inherited at least on a primeaval level hints and elements of his intelligence and vast supirior/advanced alien knowledge as well?

Ridley Scott's style is different but I wonder if we will see soldiers, weapons and war vehicles.

Wouldn't it be cool if the Engineers' Paradise' homeworld was a multiple layered Giger-Derilict style design that has been completely stacked upon stack upon stack over the entire world like Courascant in the Star Wars films is one GIGANTIC MEGA CITY running down to the bowels of the planet and its murkey underworld, sort of like a layer-cake. I see the entire sub-surface world and above built upon world like the ring layers of an onion ever-expanding outwards with more technology upon technology. And if these sub-levels were explored then we would get an insight into the background and history of the Engineers going back hundreds-of-millions of years! Imagine a GIGER MEGA-CITY world like Hades/San-Angeles/Los Angeles in Blade Runner the new world built upon layer upon layer on that of the old! Take that idea and apply it to that of GIGER-style architecture and Derilict design en-masse! PLANETARY IN SCALE!

@Hypernova That's sort of what I envisioned when they first talked about the home planet idea way back. A massive landscape dominated by Giger imagery and different forms of Alien life... very few Elders remain in one secluded part of the planet that exists below the surface. They're almost happy to see Shaw and David arrive and show them where to go to avoid the planet's wildlife. Part of me thinks the reason we've seen different forms of the Alien is to gear us up for what could be waiting on Paradise, if there is indeed a war between the engineers and other factions and the Engineers went dark. Except now it's the Engineer/Elder's world as well, instead of only the planet the original genetics come from. And they're dealing with the giant skeletons and exploratory angle Cameron wanted to bring in by making Hicks, Ripley and Newt a space version of Swiss Family Robinson in his ideas for where Alien 3 should go. Cameron was thinking about going back to the big dental patient at one point too, and he wanted to do that within his Hicks/Ripley travel to the Alien home-world idea. have them be like Swiss family Robinson discovering giant bones in space... But Fox rushed ahead with Alien 3. There was two options they wanted to pursue: the homeworld, or Earth. And neither got pursued or really came to a script stage because of the mess that became Alien 3. They even had that trailer for the Earth idea after they decided not to go with what Cameron had left them with. Ridley and Cameron tried to get some of these ideas going again with Alien 5, but it's only here in Prometheus and Paradise that we'll see what became of those ideas and the transformations they've taken by making the Engineers us and covering part of Earth's story in stages until a trilogy can be built out of the idea to explore Earth... At least Earth's ancient past. Tying into why the Engineers may have wanted to destroy us.

i do NOT want to see marines in paradise, and i do NOT want se a queen of any sort. I like the idea of David and shaw being the only human characters(david obviously isnt but you get my point). If it is well written it could work in may ways. There could ofcourse be a paralell story running, where we see the merging of weyland and yutani, like @Mala´kak said. But this story should take place entirerly on earth. I never tought of the xeno comming from a particular homeworld, that adds to its mystery. What it is and where it first came from should be a secret that not even the engineers know. Maby the engineers is an endangered speicies in the cosmos. A few here and there, Dwelling in cryosleep, like egyptian gods in tombs burried under sand, angered if awakend. After what we have seen in alien and prometheus, this seems to be the case, but who knows? Its hard for me to imagine what paradise looks like. Ive tried to picture in in my head but nothing seems good enough, unworthy. But i do know that i dont want it to be green and cozy....I want a big rock in space, details i leave to the art department and ridley. there is one Giger painting that could be used as inspiration tough. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PNozABhswgA/T6buVSDwsxI/AAAAAAAABhU/D75frN0X_Rw/s1600/hr-giger-dark-water.jpg It could be like a deserted tempel in the middle of a poison, shallow sea of some sorts....always liked that picture for some reason.

In my opinion the Engineers did not want to destroy us, they want to transform us. I would like to see a prologue of a war between two alien factions...or even a prologue of the origins of Engineers.

@Korpen Nice giger paiting and yeah, I know Ridley's style is different from that of Cameron and certainly can be interesting to see the fusion of both companies on Earth. By the way, I think that some of the ideas about planet Mars from Jon Spaihts script can be great too.

^^ @ Shambhala about the prelude. That's what I'm thinking the third movie is, some of it occurring between when the Engineers arrived and when human civilization began. Also a continuation of some of them wanting to attack us. Shaw and David would find out there's a reason the Elders are living with the monsters on Paradise. The Engineers only wanted freedom from their Elders/fathers like David. So on Paradise it's revealed the Elders are actually the ones to watch out for. The Engineers would have let some of us live and only use some of us as steps in the bio-weapon, and only as a means to an end to defeat the Elders. They're against the Elders because "doesn't everyone want to see their parents dead?". We show up and actually help some of the Elders off the planet the Engineers stranded them on. Maybe the genetics aren't from any known place and Paradise isn't necessarily the Alien home world but becomes pretty much that... and the Elders had their servants turn against them already and launch an attack that did consume their world by the time David finds and speaks with them. They try to pin it on the Engineers, which it was, and Shaw and David are left even more worried/unsure about the Engineers. There's more to the story, the Engineers were originally the servant class of the Elders. They stole all their technology and destroyed their world, which was also their own homeworld, as well destroying other worlds. And leading to the mythic destruction of the Garden of Eden on Earth. Which was a colony of Paradise... I agree and think that the Engineers only wanted to transform us and use us against the fathers/Elders. Which is almost as bad, but they have a higher purpose for doing their evil deeds like David.

Just wanted to post this picture again. It's Great! This was based on another artist's work but I can't as yet remeber what his name is but it is kind of dark in tone as well as this which is perhaps what inspired it in the first place for Gigeer. It has a 'Gates of the Dead' feel about it and the murky underworld that Perseus visited in the first Clash of the Titans with Sam Worthington (remake version).

@Mala'kak, I'm agree, a third film can recreate the ancient past of Earth, to make reference to the Garden of Eden, Sodom and Gomorrah, Atlantis...or as in these floods to kill giants, like in the Bible and Sumerian mythology. Perhaps the slaves have much in common with David as you say ... in fact he seems to anticipate all ... for example when he says "There is nothing in the desert" sounds as if he knew that Shaw and Holloway failed to find answers...then..."and no man needs nothing" like the humanity have everything on Earth but despite this, Weyland wants more (like Adam and Eve) and because he wants immortality. I think David can identify himself with the fallen angels and create a dangerous new agenda.

Mala'kak

MemberOvomorphJan-16-2013 5:59 PM
Yeah it's like he already knew that LV-223 was only the start of this part of the journey, and Weyland would not find what he was looking for in a place that was so lifeless and barren like a desert. If eternal life was there it might have flourished to great numbers, and life was what Weyland needed. I'm thinking what they find is that Paradise has become a place of living death in the second movie, much like the Underworld and ideas about Hades rather than what we're expecting Paradise to be like. There are traces of the culture that once existed there but it's become overrun and basically belongs to the bioweapons now. Shaw and David didn't know this when they land, and have a rough time getting off. They're forced to work together as a team despite their differences and not knowing if they can trust the Elders. The Elders are like the Olympians, but Hades the third brother overran this Paradise. Atlanteans/Igigi/The lower classes are Engineers who rebel and wipe themselves out trough genetic meddling. The original Space Jockey are the Titans... but we only see another dead one for now in Paradise. To make matters more puzzling it's within a crashed circular craft from the first film.... To let us know these beings also once lived on this planet and something is still up. Something the Elders did changed the pilots of the round crafts from what they originally were, like what was done with the old form of the alien genetics... This would not be fully revealed until the end of the third movie. I wanna see the sunken city scene and the yacht dream scene they planned added in there with the Mars scene as part of a whole non-linear plot of the third movie. Culminating in an attack on the Earth by the Elders that the company never spoke of. that can be viewed as explaining how some of the cities end up in ruins at the end of Alien Resurrection and their motives in constantly trying to acquire the bio-weapon. The Elders are still out there. What if what we thought was the company being evil this whole time was actually them trying to sacrifice some of their assets for the greater good to protect the rest of their colonies from an even deadlier form of the fire? They're still evil but in the company's eyes they had to have a form of the bio-weapon to stand a chance against the Elders like the Engineers did. what the company doesn't know is David already sacrificed everything to give up the form of the fire they have aboard the second juggernaut. All the androids that follow and Yutani's own androids are light-years behind David, so David even makes sure most of the David's will vanish from the timeline and deals major blows to the company in the end. Helping Shaw save the Earth from what Weyland set in motion. Plus much more Young Weyland that way, if we do eventually see some of the before and after, plus an actual attack on a futuristic Earth in a theoretical third movie. But Weyland almost sees himself as a young man subconsciously in the scrapped dream scene of himself on the yacht while actually in cryo. It's wasn't supposed to be old man Weyland when he was in the dream world & David was supposed to be there with him. It was supposed to be Pearce without makeup talking to David in his own dreams, in a world his subconscious had created... Which leads to Shaw's memory of her father not being entirely real... and partially a projection of how she wants him to be remembered. This reveals Weyland's true goal and vanity... He didn't only want to live forever, he wanted the old fountain of youth and perceives himself as young in the planned dream scene... I think it could be cool to see more Pearce as young Weyland join the cast in the third movie as David finally reveals some of the things he had previously figured out about his master. And why he too was working against an Elder like Engineers, why Vickers thought he was a King, and why he hopes Shaw should really would hate her own father as well. He wanted to remain young forever and even possibly still saw himself as that young man Weyland who gave the speech all those years ago. While transforming into the monster he would become. Even Weyland may not have started out all bad and part of him wanting to stay alive is wanting to stay young physically and mentally... Vickers talks about the grace he used to have, but even his judgment is off on this mission. He ignores all the warning signs that they don't have immortality. David "trusts their cryo-chambers will impress" but Weyland isn't paying attention. David could be seeing how much he can get away at hinting, if they have cryochambers they aren't immortal. If Weyland, as an engineer himself, took the time to think of the implications he would have figured it out. That they weren't gods. David knew his mind was set on this.. he wanted to watch his father die. Some of his programming forces him to say things like this and "it wasn't the air". He has to tell the truth, but he doesn't have to flat out warn Weyland that there's only death there.

Mala'kak, my friend, the problem with long posts that address too many issues is that my attention wanders and I have to admit I wind up skipping on to another post that is more concise and focused. Please have mercy on me! I make you a promise, if you will narrow down your posts and not make multiple posts in a row then I will read them in their entirety and time permitting, respond. As to what you posted above I don't have the time to sort though all of that information to find points to respond to. Sorry. I look forward to trading ideas with you in the future. Also read my post from today which is a general statement about issues I have noticed lately or ones I have bit my tongue to avoid insulting anyone.
