Is it me or is does the preservation of the decapitated SJ head look just like an egg? Also in the scene when they are fiddling around with it, they say its changing... Therefore ive come to a conclusion of LV426. The SJ we see in Alien is the last survivor of the goo experiments from LV226, but from a different time and pyramid. He carrys his fellow dead SJs on his ship, to be taken home and buried at there planet. But not all is dead. Not knowing,in the corpses, there is evil an unseen facehugger ready to pounce, , and the SJ corpses gradually over the years turn into eggs. The hole would be where the facehuggers acid body has disintegrated the floor. Prbably loads of flaws and holes.. but ive been thinking about that head.

You bring up and interesting point about the decapitated Engineer's head still acitive. Although it seemed to be inert for 2,000 year just like the goo becong alive the head might still have something special going on. If the goo was already in this separated head then the explosion in the med center may be a result of gestation period that just was not right almost like an abortion. There was certainly something still going on in the lost head but speclation with so few facts can be extensive and tiring. My brain is sort of feeling funny so keep the probes away from me..please.

What was going on inside the head was infection pure and simple. I think you are over thinking this one. It is a coincidence that the head was egg shaped and so happened to look kind of like the xeno eggs in Alien. The head lay for 2000 years in an airless compartment which quickly began to change after David opened the door and allowed atmosphere and oxygen to enter as evidenced by the changing murals. That is why Shaw and Ford so quickly put the head in plastic and sealed it in against further decontamination. In the Spaihts script, the head began to quickly turn into jello upon contact with the atmosphere. I don't think they even got a chance to plug in the neurostimulator. Speaking of which, did you notice that they put way too much current into that thing? They should have been talking about units of milliamps, not 40 amps!! That is enough juice to start a diesel truck or Cadillac! 300 mAs is enough to stop a human heart if it passes right through it. This is a question that I don't think anyone here has addressed. I used to build electronic circuits as a hobby so I know about this stuff.

Yes the amount power being pluggrd into the heasd was enormous. In fact I don't think a probe that size could even have that much capacity. If it did it would be the size of Generator!! As you know , nostromo001, therer is a difference between electronic and electrical power.

Yes agreed. I'm supprised the amperage itself didn't explode the head in and of itself!

It all depends on the conductivity of the material in question. Power dissipation is, IIRC, current squared times resistance. Therefore, if the Engineer's brain has an unusually low resistance, 40 Amps or so might not actually result in a lot of power being dumped.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

zz, P=I^2R or I squared times the resistance. there is no C in the equation. what it means is that the Power across a resistive material such as a resistor is a quadratic function of current times the resistance which is constant and so not as relevant as the current. This equation states that the power will jump at a much greater rate per unit of current than a linear function. So 40 amps would provide a P = 1600R, whatever R is, in units of Watts /ohms for example and that is a huge jump and supports my original point that the resultant power is directly dependent on current, and that is enough to fry the tissue which is most likely highly conductive since it is an aqueous solution with the addition of natural salts added which will increase the conductivity even more.
