Having spent time indulging in the Blu-Ray of the Alien from Quadrilogy...I was struck by the grace of the Alien's movement. When I watch the Lambert/Parker scene the Alien moves with such grace and light steps. It strikes me as almost looks fairy or ballet like. Now, look at how the alien moves in the subsequent movies, it jumps around like a Monkey. It struk me the the actor in Alien moved with Bogeyman poise and an inevitablility of death. The Alien is presented in such dfferent ways and poses like in the tunnel, the lifeboat etc. If you get the chance check out the rehersal film of the actor walking the corrdors of the Nostromo in just the head. It is chilling. Cameron moved the Alien being as from something comepllety unknown and unpreditcable to being almost insect / primate movement like which I find unfirutnate and not imaginative at all.

Today I have been dedicated to post on as many topics as possible until I pass out from drinking too many beers.

Agreed. The motion towards Lambert was almost ghost-like. However, in the lifeboat at the end, the Alien did look like a tall man in a rubber suit struggling to get up from the floor.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

But looking like a man in a suit is more satisfying to me then the vast amount of CGI that is used today in films. Yes I agree wirh you @zzplural the original xenomorph at times did look like a man in a suit. But in my opinion that made the creature more interesting. That part of the creature looked humanoid in body form. But the rest of the Xeno was a mix of different types of insects. All in all the original Xenomorph design is amazimg.

I agree, the xeno design is probably hard to better. But there were a couple of dodgy moments in the Narcissus that really should have been edited out or re-shot. Only a couple, mind. One other terrible edit that springs to mind is, of course, the cut to Ash's decapitated head on the table.

The deathscene with Lambert is definitely some of the most scary Alien movement ever. I know the deleted stuff from that scene looked a bit weird, but still to me is some of the scariest footage. The crabwalk looked a bit odd, but i still feel it's terrifying. Also that nice shot from the side where you see it slowly standing up in front of her. here is the deleted footage in decent quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR5jYeIMBKk
