Co-AdminMemberOvomorphAug-04-2012 3:54 PMIt's a good movie, not the best ever made scifi. For sure go see it while it is in theatres.
I thought it made great homage to the first TR, but in ways kicked it's a$$.
Also, the new Rekall pays homage to other sci-fi/fantasy movies, so be on the lookout. I don't want to give too much away, because it'll ruin the surprises.
Yes, this is a more serious film, yet does have some camp, not enough to distract. The action in it hardly lets up, so make sure to take care of your business before you sit down : P
Anyways, once more people have seen it I will throw more of my two cents in

MemberOvomorphAug-07-2012 3:07 PM@Freeze!...Thanks! Good to know you like it as I think we have some of the same taste. My mom had went to see it with my aunt and her husband on opening night. My aunt has HORRIBLE tatse. Her husband however has some good taste and some bad. He digs sci-fi a lot but likes films like Avatar and some really cheesy, sci-fi channel series movie adaptations. On the other hand he digs things like Inception. He was overseas working when Prometheus hit and hasn't seen it so not sure if he'll like it.
As I said my mom went with my aunt who has HORRIBLE taste in films. Sometimes when they go see movies together I think my aunts lack to understand anything that is even remotely engaging rubs off on my mom. An example was Fincher's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Niether liked it, I told my mom they were crazy and that it was good. My mom watched it again and completely changed her tune. My aunt's brain can really not take anything besides cheesy romantic comedies and the like. My mom tells me she cries uncontrollably at any hint of sadness in films.
Anyway, my mom has great taste. She enjoys most I show her and I even made her watch Eraserhead the other day which she enjoyed. Like I said, she has good tatse. But she returned from Total Recall and said it sucked and was terrible. This had me worried. But as I poked and prodded for reasons why she didn't like it and asked her what she did like about it it became apparent that she may not have grasped some of the story(which I attribute to my aunts brain being in close proximity to hers) and that there actually were many things in the film she did like.
This, along with your thoughts, Freeze!, has given me a bit of hope and I am going to see it. However, Prometheus is on at the $1 theatre and I want to see it as many times as possible before it's gone so Total Recall will have to wait a minute.
Has anyone else gone to see it?

MemberOvomorphAug-07-2012 3:24 PMNo, I haven't seen it yet, but kind of looking forward to it actually.
@Engineering: Talking bad adaptations/remakes, the worst I've seen recently is the SkyFy network's take on the original 1984 'The Philadelphia Extperiment'. I guess that's what you're referring to, right?
I nearly cried when I saw that last week, I consider that as crime! It even had Michael Paré in it, which made it worse. The original is really cool, not sure if many people remember it, or have even seen it.

MemberOvomorphAug-08-2012 7:27 AM@Hal...I remember it and have seen it. It's actually in a "Sci-Fi films to see before you die" book I have. I haven't seen the sci-fi channel remake and that's not what I was refering to. I was talking about films like Serenity that were adapted from a TV series. Like Battlestar Gallactica movies and things like that. Not that Serenity is too awful. I'm just not into those series like he is. Not my cup of tea.
