So I finally got the chance to see this movie. Many of my friends (online and offline) warned me about expectations. I never get it why they said that until I watched it myself. I didn't get the good source for the movie. I can't comment much about the source but it was dark and that's why I don't want to comment on CGI and other remarks on sets etc. Characters - So FOX paid charlize and Idris for very short amount of time and they didn't even used them to their potential. Charlize did few push-ups and flashed on deck once in while to show that she's in control of the ship, that's it? Is it a TV movie or something? There is also no depth in any character. I found characters in AVP and alien 1-2-3 with more depth compared to this movie. With the exception of fassbender, nobody performed better in this movie. Noomi's effort were wasted due to the pace of the movie. She acted great in operating machine scene. Dialogues - When charlie said - "God does not build in straight lines", I laughed my heart out. What made him say that? Yeah you're right, gods don't but blondes do. :P Seriously, dialogues were thrown in the script without creating any atmosphere around. It's like watching movie in between the leaked trailers. I mean show some mystic or power stuff before throwing in some punches. Script - The way david acts in this movie and how every person is placed, It looks like as if these guys know the events in Alien and they are being cautious about what could be inside the cave. Hell even AVP crew acted better than these guys. Oh wait, It's not prequel we know, but looks like Alien sequel? Movie felt like engineers got killed by some accident in the storage room (referring to the urns storage) and one watchman and dog (creature in black liquid) placed behind to keep others from doing more damage. Confusing stuff- I don't know if most of you noticed one big weird thing in the movie. David acted more than what he was programmed for. I mean he knew about the ancient symbols, alien ship's programming, holograph stuff etc etc. I mean he was the one who acted with some agenda in this entire script, not vickers. Flow- From the engineers sacrifice to the scene where david meets vickers, the flow was so quick. Even cam-style movies build up characters and some background before bombarding panic and pschological stuff. This movie was like watching mishaps of prometheus from Weyland-Yutani board of directors reference database. Second viewing suggestion? Yes. I hear you, but then that will only make me like this movie for graphics which lasted for few seconds in the movie. Sequel ? I don't expect it at all. Even if it comes I'll watch it on cable tv, FOX messed up with the alien series for good, it's not worth multiplex and DVD anymore. As for prediction- It's going to be more futuristic plot with concept like our ancestors mining planets for their own purpose and maybe shaw dropping in to say hi only to get the plot diverted into something else. No matter who writes and directs next movie, It's not going to be worth my time. Prometheus killed my curiosity towards movies that has panspermia concept. I felt like movie was directed by raelian director, not ridley scott. Twitter reviewers were right, many of us were so wrong. Sci-fi which people who are born before 90's know ended way back in last decade. I have so many things to rant about but I am sure it'll turn into rant-fest with more people jumping in. It's really hard to express myself. You can dissects my review any way you wish. My rating - 2 out of 5.

I can't reveal the source on forums. As most of the people in SB know about it when I talked to few of them while watching it. Yes I am getting DVD for 2nd run just for the graphics and score.

Ah, cool Sky. See? Nothing like keeping expectations low. A lot of oddities there yes. And the Aesthetics was very rushed. Important dialogues? What are those? lol

Sky I feel bad for you, having had to wait all this time & hearing so much differing opinion on the site before you had a chance to see it! I wish we could all have enjoyed Prometheus more, well those who were disappointed in any way. I'd still recommend a cinema viewing, if only for the visuals.

Sky, it was very well balanced and rant-less. Great job, and yes I agree as I watched the movie I knew the plot but did not expect it to be a Comedy set in outer space...

I'd like to think that bona fide professionals such as RS and Lindeloff would agree -- nay DEMAND -- there be a sequel planned before agreeing to join project. I mean, if they don't film one, where are we left at? Yes, David CLEARLY knew way too many things: how to talk to the E's; how to open their doors; operate the ship (ostensibly while headless, too!) -- just like Ash seemingly knew all about what the xeno was all about... Gotta believe there's a sequel -- and gotta believe it'll be better than Prometheus. My predicted title: Epimetheus (in mythology, Prometheus' brother).

How about Fetus the musical? LOL Sorry but after going round and round getting no concrete answers with seemingly every other direction pursued, caught and examined, the thought of a large group of Engineers dancing in line on their home world designed by Mr Giger, songs by Mr Lindelof, seems no more oddball than, well, so much else that slips out of the movie-goers' grip on Prometheus' flight into the unknown.
