MemberOvomorphJul-17-2012 6:34 PMdeftones: You did see that comment. I also read it a week or 2 ago. It may have been Fader who wrote that remark but I'm not sure about that info. Whomever it was who wrote it was cool in that were not coy about what they supposedly read on the film's wiki page. They just said that they'd read it and were shocked that Fox had let the info sit in the public realm for so long.

MemberOvomorphJul-17-2012 10:36 PMLarge scale water scenes that were filmed in Spain...3 months worth of work...and they are nowhere to be seen in the film....at least, not this part of the story
deftones1986
MemberOvomorphJul-17-2012 10:39 PMYes I remember you talking about the water scenes, but I also thought you said you saw something else on the wiki perhaps about something other than the 3 months of filming.
Or is that what was mentioned, and then taken down?
Either way THANK YOU sooooo much!!! It would have bugged the HELL out of me for a long, long time you have no idea, I appreciate it!

MemberOvomorphJul-17-2012 10:35 PMAnd...I wasnt trying to tease anybody with it, not at all..it was just something I found and was pretty surprised about...and there was another member, a long time member who shared their curiosity about it...and this was months ago when it first came up

MemberOvomorphJul-17-2012 10:45 PMLike I said...wasnt being or trying to be a jerk about it...but as soon as the film came out..the Wiki got 'cleansed'...of the film work in Alicante, both in the water complex and on the nearby beach where a 'ship' of some sort was built....somewhere is a lot of ocean footage being held onto....I'm thinking the Engineers origin is aquatic in some way....completely out of nowhere that we would never expect it....Prom 2 is gonna rattle even more than Prom1 I suspect...if there were people who deserted the film we have seen for what it was, I wager they'll be back jumping on the bandwagon
deftones1986
MemberOvomorphJul-17-2012 10:54 PMNot saying you where being a jerk at all, or trying to trick people, the point is i couldn't remember who said all of that, let alone could I remember if I felt like said person (you) was trying to get attention.
It's of the utmost importance that you don't take this the wrong way, because that information is very useful, and I agree with the theory of something else happening on 10-11-12 (they wouldn't spend 3 darn months filming JUST the flashback dream scene of Weyland on a boat would they???) I think not!!!
So again I thank you, and my only question was regarding wether or not the "info taken down" that you noticed was indeed the time spent filming or some other information but you now cleared that up for me, and I am grateful. :) :) :)

MemberOvomorphJul-17-2012 11:15 PMYou know, of course, we're all looking forward to the Blu Ray..and we're gonna get it, and play it..and play it again and again....and we're still gonna have to wait for Prom2 because the Blu Ray for Prom 1 isn't gonna have all the answers, just SOME..hahaha...we are addicted, oh yeahhhh.
I'm getting settled into taking the longview, the wait..it seems to me that Ridley's story is, for better or worse, following a business model that extends the story over a period of time for the audience...it actually is a new thing for Ridley, perhaps he's wanted to do a series, but never had the chance, I dont know, just guessing..but the film is near 300 mil and thats a lot of reasons to keep going with the story....Fox was damn brave from a business point of view to roll the dice on something brand new, gotta give em that.

MemberOvomorphJul-18-2012 12:15 AMIt doesn't explain the three months of shooting but I have a theory.
I remember seeing somewhere that there was originally a scene with David and younger Weyland. I believe it involved David riding a jet ski on a body of water. Then he talked to Weyland on a boat.
Maybe not, but that could be what the water scenes and the ship they built was.

Ridley was interested in filming at Ciudad de la Luz (Alicante)... various technical folks were there for several weeks to prep for shooting... but in the end it was too expensive and was cut.
It WOULD HAVE BEEN the David and Weyland on the yacht scene.
However—MOST importantly for me—this thread has led to my discovering that the Dettifoss footage is/was originally 15 minutes long. WOOT! How long is it in this cut? 6? 7? Even that?
Mucho is missing.
