MemberFacehuggerJun-13-2012 2:47 PMWe know a comparison has been made of the engineers DNA against ours and that the xeno follows an evolutionary path, though not fully known as yet. I think the black goo is something of a smart enzyme of sorts, in that it targets certain host chemicals then somehow decides how an organism is going to evolve. I have a theory that the black goo is an alien bile salt, and that Ridley Scott may have been influenced by the story Dune, in that the bile of worms is referred to as The Water of Life ( could be a long shot, I know). I think this is were there maybe the liver connection with Prometheus somehow. As for the engineers suit, well we do have a habit of wearing animal skins from forms of life lower down on the food chain, but there are still genetic similarities. So I think its down to the engineers/alien genetic evolutionary chain., that is particular to the planet of origin.

MemberOvomorphJun-13-2012 2:47 PMAlways noticed it. Those "ribs" are a bit iconic. Well as iconic as some ribs can get I suppose.

These Engineers are gaining more levels of awesome.

MemberOvomorphJun-13-2012 3:00 PM@Engineering. I think a lot of what Ridley says is carefully considered considering this plot line hasn't finished yet, and there's a sequel to be made. There may not have to be a bunch of Xenomorphs in the next film, but I think it will reveal where they came from, and why, and who has things backwards, and of course it will be shrouded in the myths of angry gods and punishments.
I'm looking forward to it.

I wonder if there is a market out there for Xeno Biker's leathers ?

MemberOvomorphJun-13-2012 3:03 PMMe too, Hadley's. I actually edited my post as I wanted to start a discussion thread about what I said in it instead of derailing the thread here.

MemberOvomorphJun-13-2012 3:04 PMI agree, there is definitely a connection between the Engineer's suit or body and the Xeno's. At first I was thinking that would make since if a xeno came from an Engineer to have ribs like that, but then the Deacon really didn't have those kinds of ribs. So perhaps, the Deacon is just the prototypical xeno, the first of it's kind, and as it evolves through human hosts it forms the Engineer-esque ribs?
