Could work BUT someone will point out the age of the derelict in ALIEN - but who knows what the writer J K Rowlin will think up ;)

Any chance you can rewrite that in English? And nowhere in that --- paragraph???? --- do you explain, how or whey they go from LV-223 to LV 426.

As RH referred to... The derelict Engineer craft on LV-426 crashed/landed there thousands of years ago.

that's still an assumption AND based on the fact we now know there were "Many of them" of according to David8 {derelict spacecraft} AND only one PLANET In that system total, we are 100% not even close to seeing if their in fact is any relation between LV-233 and LV-426

Ridley Scott stated it before Prometheus was released, the "mummification" of the LV-426 derelict crafts pilot would need over 30 years to "swell" out it's chair, and the crash/landing on LV-426 also provides the drive for the events 2000 years ago on LV-223 - Why they redesigned the Xenomorph.

Snorky we talked about this check this out. You remember I am sure the candid interview to a French Mag Ridley gave and I made a post about in which he cleared up this 33 year old mystery of the Eggs & The Derelict...He said... "The Derelict on LV-426 did NOT CRASH, it made "Soft landing" because one of it's "Cargo of Bombs" got lose and infected the Jockey but not until he got off a signal to his home world informing them what happened just like I had predicted. "Muther" {The Company} intrecepted that signal and sent the closet ship in that quarter of space, The Nostromo, to investigate. The Xenomorph has not been redisigned, it is as I said ONE ORGNISM derived from the liquid goo...WHAT IN FACT HAS JUST HAPPENED IS THE XENOMORPH FORM HAS BEEN GIVEN IT'S FIRST TASTE OR SPRINKLE IF YOU WILL OF HUMAN DNA, WE HAVE NOT SEEN THE ENTIRE LEAD IN TO THE FORM WE ARE USED TO SEEING YET, HE WILL BRING IT CLOSER AND CLOSER TO THAT UNTIL WE SEE IT IT THE WAY IT WAS 33+ YEARS AGO OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT 2 FILMS OBVIOUSLY! still, there is no relation YET in this timeline to LV-426, that's a link I am sure he is being very very careful with, and timely! The Timing of it is KEY.

When I say "crashed/landed" i am allowing the reader to choice one or the other, but in this context the difference is a matter of semantics... Engineer is piloting his ship when an alarm sounds, informing him that one of his cargo is loose. Attached to the chair he can do nothing, maybe he activates some defensive countermeasure, but to no avail. He smells burning, looks down and sees a hole being slowly burnt to the right of his seat. He drops out of "Hyper-space" and flies the craft towards a dead, lifeless, primordial planetoid as the Facehugger lunges from the hole and attaches itself to his face. At that moment the Engineer is no longer piloting the craft and it is forced to land on the planetoid. Waking up the pilot, aware he has a limited amount of time before he dies broadcasts a signal to inform his race of the events... This is what happened to the Engineer pilot of the derelict craft that is on LV-426. This happened thousands of years ago. The Xenomorph born in Prometheus is born not from an egg but from the black liquid, itself stored in metallic urns. This liquid is a reprogrammed version of that consumed by the Sacrificial Engineer at the start of the movie. It has been reprogrammed to create phase 2 (the Xenomorph) at the expense of phase 1 (us), for reasons to be explained in the sequels. Being stored in urns instead of eggs the substance is safer to transport, with the intent that the engineers would not fall foul to their cargo again (that bit, as in hollywood fashion, didn't work out that way), and to change the propagation of the Xenomorph species, at least in its deployment stage, to that of a viral weapon as opposed to the previous, dangerous biological weapon that caused the death of the pilot on LV-426.

ok that's very well thought out but in no way "canon" {damn I still hate that word, all I knew was "canon" was some Fat T.V. detective}. Ridley has not done that yet. It is I agree something we can surmise, but it is up to him how he wants to finally present it...no...?...

and David8 was the cause of the entire incident! He "stole their fire" and transported it on board Just as I said someone of the crew would!

It not only fits in with all of Ridleys statements regarding LV-426, Prometheus and the Xenomorph but also ties up the "alleged" loose ends in the film in a way hinted at in the pre-production stages of the 4 Alien films and the way in which Ridley, Lindeloff and Spaihts would imagine (going by the previous works). What we see in Prometheus are more pieces of the puzzle we already had, the job is to use logic, deduction and the creative direction of those involved to assemble those pieces in the right order.

David, an android, or more correctly a synthetic, driven by logic, deduction and reasoning. Put simply David released the substance in an experiment mirroring what would happen if this substance was released on Earth, to discover the end result, the conclusion, so that he could surmise the true purpose of the substance.

brilliant, and I hadn't even thought of that, or even "WHY" he did what he did. Thanks for that little tasty "tidbit" bro.

Much in the same way that Ash allowed the Facehugger to do its thing and and the Chestburster to escape in Alien - ascertation through observation.

I believe that the Engineer ship that Shaw is on IS the ship that crashes on LV-426. Here is why: At the end of the movie, we clearly see one of the Engineer ships leaving the moon. We know that Shaw and David are the only ones on that ship. Unfortunately, David is currently in pieces, so that means someone else has to be piloting the ship, and since the Space Jockey chair seems to be the only way TO pilot the ship, it HAS to be Shaw sitting in it. Since we know there is black goo on Shaw's stolen Engineer ship, it's not inconceivable to speculate that some of it may have been released (as it was able to sense human presence, and therefore release itself, in the Temple), and spawned a facehugger creature that could have attacked Shaw at some point on her journey. When she discovered she was infected, she would have hopped in the chair one last time and altered the ship's course to crash on some barren world to prevent its contents from affecting anyone else. She would have also sent out (again, with David's help) the warning message, albeit transmitted in an alien language. The creature inside Shaw would ultimately burst out of her while she was still in the chair. Since Shaw was female, the chestburster could have easily been a queen, which would explain all the eggs waiting for the crew of the Nostromo. As for the timeline, that's easy. When the crew of the Nostromo stumbles upon the Space Jockey in 'Alien', they ASSUME it is thousands of years old because they THINK they are looking at the skeletal remains of a pilot that has fused to his chair (I saw no one in that scene carbon-dating anything). Thanks to 'Prometheus', we now know that those are NOT the bones of the pilot, but the exo-skeleton of the chair itself (just as we know that the skull is not the skull of the pilot, but rather, the pilot's helmet). We also know that the dead Engineers discovered by the crew of Prometheus WERE carbon-dated, by Shaw, and found to be 2,000 yrs old. It's safe to assume, then, that EVERYTHING else, including the ships hidden below ground, are also 2,000 yrs old, at the very least! So, when Shaw flies off that moon at the end of Prometheus, she is piloting a ship well over 2,000 yrs old. And when the crew of the Nostromo discover it some 30 years later on Lv-426, they are correct in saying the Jockey is very old, just not for the reasons they state. I think this makes for a much more interesting storyline. Imagine! The crew of the Nostromo stumbles upon an ancient starship, and what they think is a millenia old alien pilot, is actually a suit containing the remains of a very human person. A human that, at one time, was employed by the same company that hired them!!! WOW.

rsoroky, I am glad someone else came up with the same theory about Shaw and the ending that I did. The more I thought about it the more it makes sense to me. I think the theory we have is far more plausible than the "Deacon" xeno going back into a ship and laying eggs, then another engineer coming to the planet only to get facehugged and crashland somewhere else. The only thing that I differ on is that I think the eggs were on the ship she piloted already. In the original Alien film the eggs are in a specific part of the ship under that blue light in a climate controlled area (with high humidity if I remember correctly). Meaning they were placed there purposely by someone who was cultivating them (in some manner). In Prometheus there are several mounds in a line when they land. The first mound being the one they enter, and containing the first ship that crashes. David and Shaw get on the second ship which contains another biological weapon/creature the engineers worship/fear the xenomorph we are familiar with.

Cont... I theorize that all the ships have some sort of different biological weapon of some sort on them. The black mutating goo in the first ship, the formed eggs in Shaw's ship and who knows what else in the other few ships. They could have all been manufactured from the goo in some way but the murals in the room with the head clearly show a very xeno looking egg and also some sort of xeno, meaning they knew about their life cycle previously. You pretty much said the rest. Shaw happens across a facehugger and crash lands on LV-426 and puts out the warning. This explains the SOS signal received in Alien in an alien language since it was given from an alien ship. Then when the crew from the Nostromo find the Derilect they are unknowingly finding a Shaw in a engineer suit. The atmoshpere caused the suit to deteriorate. Best ending explaination I have heard/came up with yet...

rsoroky, thats a nice theory. I'm not sure about Shaw being the engineer in Alien, but you have had a similar idea to what i did, in that he looks fossilised, but in fact isn't as old as that. If we remember in Prometheus, the head of the engineer is reanimated, even though it looks fossilised and is carbon dated. The containers change, having looked a little bit fossilised allowing the goo to change the worms into the Hyrda, and of course, the egg in alien changes in an incredibly similar way from looking inactive, then 'fizzing', activating and of course releasing John Hurts best friend. This could mean that the 'Deacon' alien in Prometheus, is the prototype which is then further engineered into everyones favourite killing machine....

I absolutely cannot get enough of this type of conjecture and theorizing! Thanks to you all for giving me more perspectives to "chew"on, I love this thread!
