One question to people posting on this thread: Could it be that most of these best moments are selected more based on their "eye candy" value than on other considerations? For instance, are these favorite bits suspenseful, or poignant, engrossing... do they work well as plot devices, etc?

It's hard to list particular moments, but in no particular order: 1. Flying away into space to search for their homeworld. 2. Milburn and Fifield in the ampoule chamber (for the character interaction and the tension) 3. When the mask is first taken off of the Space Jockey head. 4. David booting up the U-ship's control room, his reaction and the visuals. 5. David infecting Holloway via finger in the glass (this was a genius scene) 6. Shaw's reaction to Weyland's actual agenda. 7. The super spuidling 8. Caesarian and the squidling 9. The flight movement of the U-ship 10. Vickers' final moment

They work well as movie scenes ...because are well acted and interesting of course and then because are funny , scary or deep . Are scenes that will remain in a memory like the many in Alien and Aliens and the very few of Alien3 and Alien resurrection :p

do they work well as plot devices, etc?.... and there in lies the problem. E.G. Watch the Medipod scene, and what happens directly afterwards, and tell me if any of that makes sense. Prometheus has moments that happen but gets quickly forgotten about.

I think most of the movie had value and all was engrosing for me - I didn't get up from my seat the entire movie - the plot was good, thought provoking, there are a few surprises, the scenary is great - and the acting is good too - there isa good back story and youre left thinking at the end of it. I would definitely say to go watch the movie though. If I had a top 10 list of non eye candy sections they would be: 10 - the back story 9 - the music score 8 - the suspenseful isolated scenes (very Ridley Scott) 7 - the thought provoking idea of "meeting your maker - and what would you say to them" 6 - The ideas of evolution - and how DNA can be affected 5 - How the story fits into the Alien universe 4 - the strength of Shaw's character 3 - the thought provoking idea of "could this be true?" in a sense? 2 - the suspensful dramatic scenes 1 - the entire movie is engaging - even after you have watched it

@ Ark : With regard to the second part of your original question and your next question For me Alien is still king in total, however Prom's best parts do stand up to the best parts of Alien, but in a more quirky or visual way rather than the out and out tension and terror of Alien.

@cybershandy I am so glad to hear the movie has all those high points @Goddamn Tropics in here why the "quirk" element... why do you think it was a choice for Prometheus? @StringerBell I'll have to wait and see... there are so many contrasting opinions!!

1. Conversation of David and Holloway when Holloway says that humans created David cause they could and David replies that this sounds disappointing. 2. Opening scene. 3. Engineers preparing to leave. The flute and the star map. Really smart and spectacular. 4. C-section. 5. Conversation of Janek and Vickers. Janek asking her if she's a robot. 6. Janek crashing Prometheus into the Engineer ship. 7. Fifield (or whatever he turned into) being killed with flamethrower - my thought was: finally this thing is dead. The whole concept of one being zombified by the black goo in such a way feels disturbing. 8. Xeno mural on the wall scene. 9. Shaw's decision to fly to Engineer homeworld. 10. Shaw and Weyland asking Engineer their questions.

Hi @Arkadine I hope you go and see it and really enjoy the movie - there are lots of differing opinions - I guess people going in expecting to see different things - I went in with an open mind and loved every minute. - It does have a lot of big scenary and it can be easy to get caught up in the entire experience (in a good way) - sometimes there is so much going on. Overall it offers something new and is quite thought provoking too. Hope you have a great time watching it.

I just feel the fresh and quirky v dark and dirty that has gone before worked. There is a lot of love for David's scenes on this post, he really was the heartbeat of the film. Just reading all of these highlights and i really do not understand why some people are giving such poor reviews? Each to their own i suppose.......
