MemberFacehuggerMay-29-2012 2:51 AMI can definitely see the parallels from the description, but I'm not well versed with that arc
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

MemberOvomorphMay-29-2012 2:52 AMGood spot Rubirosa, I'd never heard of the celestrials before but just looked them up. There does seem to be similarities between them and the engineers regarding genetic experimentation. One site mentions they came to earth millions of years ago to develop dna here, which is one of the rumoured plots for Prometheus...

MemberOvomorphMay-29-2012 7:22 AMYes they came to earth for the first time about a million years ago to do genetic testing on early man. They created a hire form of man called the Eternals. One of the Celestials was driven out of the group for doing experiments on humans which was a taboo according to the other Celestials. The result of his experimentation resulted in a group of beings that are called the deviants. The Eternals are an attractive group, but the Deviants are hideous. If Prometheous goes to plan like I think it is. I consider that the Xenomorphs and the Deviants are parallel to each other, just like the Engineers, and the Celestials are to themselves. They visited earth three more times to check on the progress of the Eternals. I do have to add that I am talking about characters from comic books. But the parallels are there.

MemberOvomorphMay-29-2012 9:34 AMit will be interesting if any of the Marvel writers decide to bring in a larger story with them again after Prometheus. I mean they have been here or there in the X-Men in the last couple of years. magneto even got to hang out with one for a while, but they have not had an all out fight with them throughout the Marvel Universe that i know of. also they look a LOT less creepy!

MemberOvomorphMay-29-2012 12:43 PMLike I say, I'm new to these celestrials and without being so black or white were they 'goodies' or 'baddies' in the marvel universe? My knowledge of marvel (rightly or wrongly) is characters are either the good guys e.g. Xaviers xmen or bad guys e.g. Magnetos mutants, where do they fit? I only ask as general opinion seems to be the Engineers intent towards the Prometheus' crew will be hostile, so I'm interested in the parallels between engineers & celestrials.
I think the idea of man/eternal & xenomorph/deviant parallel is pretty cool idea. What if the xenomorphs develop as result of engineers genetic development of the Prometheus crew like these externals/deviants?
God I love hypothesising about Prometheus!!!!

MemberOvomorphMay-29-2012 1:29 PMThe Celestials are had to figure. In one case they might help create life, and help advance that species to its full potential. Or they might wipe out that species if they consider that they have transgressed every law in the book and instead of moving forward, they are moving backwards. They rarely do exterminate a whole species. You see the ear is not the only planet they have visited. They have been traveling the whole universe doing the same thing on various planets. If they say that a race of beings has potential. They will add there touch, or special ingredient to the final product. So it depends how you at it. If you look at it through the eyes of the Eternals, the Celestials are good and are worshipped as gods. If you look at it through the eyes of the Deviants they are to be hated and despised. The human population does not know in general that the Celesials even exist. Or better yet they do not remember. Everytime the Celestial have visited the planet. Either to survey e progress of the Eternals or to continue threre research they have made sure that the human race is erased of there very existence. So in the end, it is up to you to decide if the Celestials are either good or bad. Do space gods have to be considered good or bad to be respected. They are who they are because they are the Ultimate Engineers of the Marvel Universe.
