MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:08 PMYou've made the engineer into an old man in his front yard, shaking his fist at some teenagers cause their music is too loud. oh, and there are at least 3 engineers in this movie.

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:09 PMI'm with you ADH, I dont think the Engineers are bad, and neither is Vickers.

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:10 PMFirst engineer dies in the opening scene of the film, so there's only two for the duration.

I agree but ironically FOX believes in this type of stuff in real life too. err.. sorry turned on politics knob.lol

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:22 PMim not portraying the engineer as an old man at all im putting a theory into a fun context-
come on! how pissed of would you be of someone broke into your place and nicked the keys for your car-you'd go and sort them out wouldnt you..
the engineer looks mean as fuck to me and ive got even more theories about this- my mind boggles and cannot compute-
cheers for the feedback guys!

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:26 PMI would like to see the SJ waking up, grabing one of them by the throat and...
Enter that lovely Prodigy tune. "SMAK MY BITCH UP"
That would be a winner :D

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:28 PMI think you're dead on. The quotations make sense, Shaw does indeed refer to a "they." Weyland is no doubt the most ambitious bastard there. Finally, he would do anything to steal some alien tech.

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:31 PM@Diesektor:
I think you're spot on with this, fella. It's a great twist and I can totally see it happening.

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:33 PMI have thought for a while that it is the crew that is in the wrong, not the engineers. The engineers are just cleaning up their mess. You know how us humans love to meddle. But Weyland and David stealing the ship is a puzzle piece I hadn't thought about.
Ebugogo
MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:36 PMIf Weyland wants to steal the whole enchilada, then he needs to abduct one of the Engineers to find out how they are sacrificed to terraform a planet. Needing an Engineer as a main component to that technology is a good way to keep the secret safe.

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:43 PMI mentioned it as well a good few days ago, just not as in depth... so am set to agree with the theory

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:53 PMRidley Scott Quote " the crew discover a civilization doing uncivilized things." Doesn't fit to me, but you may be spot on. Through out history us civilized folk have done uncivil things to each other. I think that they mean us harm even if they think what they are doing is totally rational and benefecial, basically bringing their particular brand of religion to us savages. I also wonder why Weyland is potrayed by us a lot of times as being capable of genocide, destroying his own race for selfish purposes. He might be cockey when he speaks and have an ego, but he is not supposed to be in too much of this movie, and a switcheroo would be if he was actually a wise, intelligent genius who is either truly dead, and trying to save us with his knowledge and the older gentleman is someone else, or he is alive and willing to do anything possible to protect earth.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:54 PMGood notion, but I doubt Weyland would know how to pilot it. I mean, is this the matrix all of a sudden? Lol

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 5:56 PM@Freeze Him!
Weyland more than likely won't know how to pilot it, but there's a damn good chance one of the Davids will.
Biehn_Bandit
MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 6:00 PMThe engineers don't suffer fools. From the viewpoint of human conduct and ego, the way they deal with our transgressions may seem 'uncivilized.' But hey, maybe the engineers believe in permanent solutions...

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 6:05 PMthanks again guys and gals-badly looking forward to this film- the only tech imo weyland would need is the ship and whatever cargo its carrying-maybey its full of bio weapons?
xeno springs to mind?
good lord i could go off on tangent about this- i even heard david helps him and the engineers
maybe after an engineer dies they become pure energy?
in that interview that guy said he did play quite a young engineer and there would more of them. ill post more when i get a good theory straight in my head..
ive got a good one coming..

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 6:39 PMI couldn't disagree more with this theory, David and Weyland stealing the ship seems really far-fetched and anticlimactic. For one thing, there would be no good reason to steal the ship. If Weyland wanted it (and I don't think he is there because he sends VIckers as his representative) he could send a fleet of ships filled with mercs and scientists to take the thing apart and gather samples. Most likely, he has no idea that there is a ship and is back on earth none-the-wiser. Ridley said in an interview that the crew finds an advanced civilization with very uncivilized behavior. I still believe that the Jockey sends the ship to wipe out earth once it learns that we have become an intelligent civilization capable of creating our own life (as evidenced by David). Hence why Shaw says, "if we don't stop it there won't be any home to go back to." And the merc is probably firing the gun into the chest of an Engineer (the one with a whole in his chest we see later wrestling with the tentacle monster).

MemberOvomorphMay-24-2012 1:12 AMI don't think Weyland gets what he wants. Maybe the thought of piloting the ship crosses the mind at the time, but I think he transforms into something in the end while the real engineer uses him and the other monsters to fight off the crew.
What if we've had it all backwards and the smaller looking engineer (compared to the other) that we've seen getting in the suit is the "last engineer". The even taller one is a mid transformation Weyland who has only been shown to misdirect us. He grows out of control. He trusts the smaller engineer even after all the stuff with the cobra-huggers, mutants reanimated puppet beings, and cuddles. Even while transforming himself and noticing his size is changing too much because he thinks becoming a god will cure him/make him immortal. Really the engineer is recreating the Elder God race within Weyland. Not the Engineer race. Holloway becomes something like that. Maybe they do all want to go to Earth at some point together under the smaller ones orders. Remember Shaw says if we don't stop "them" in one of the trailers.
Because Weyland's cancer is a very rare form; in an ironic twist after all his work even the godly tech doesn't cure it and Weyland's plan backfires. The last engineer was actually trying to recreate an Elder Engineer through him/human genetics which further complicated matters. It fucks with the transformation and turns him into the biggest, self-replicating, reanimated mass of cells in the movie. He cannot die even when reduced to pieces, but he is not in control anymore and it's the smaller real engineer who thinks he still has control of the Weyland monster, quarantines him on the Juggernaut, and dons the suit because he's suffering from an infection that David was able to give him before Engineer Weyland killed him for trying to stop the real Engineer.
Tokyokid
MemberOvomorphMay-24-2012 3:39 AMSorry, the theory lacks credibility to me. I mean, why would Weyland take the juggernaut to end all life on earth? There has always been the risk of an alien getting to earth and destroying all life.
There are two Engineers on the planet. We see on mauled by cuddles. I think the elder Engineer survives to the end and tries to take the juggernaut on a bombing mission to Earth.
Mala'kak
MemberOvomorphMay-24-2012 7:25 AMI'm pretty sure Weyland goes through a horrible transformation that ends up threatening the crew and even the last engineer. The last engineer makes it through to the end, because he's a survivor and very desperate and hides behind the hammerpede, mutants, reanimated mutants, and to a lesser extent cuddles (allowing him to eat the Holloway Engineer who was changed and sent over after disappearing on the second trip). The last Engineer finds a way to quarantine it before setting off for Earth with it and the other bioweapons. He does try to turn Weyland into an Elder engineer, and Holloway into an Engineer, but Weyland's transformation doesn't go so well for him. I don't know if Weyland will fit in that suit after what happens to him. He gains his immortality but loses himself completely. The remaining crew has to briefly deal with him becoming a massive crab-like blob creature who's finally stopped after reanimating, very quickly self-replicating and reassembling like a cancerous mass of mutating dead flesh, even after it's burned and dismembered. The tech he seeks doesn't cure him and extend his life like it should, it makes the transformation take on the properties of his cancer, as well as the properties of the Elder gods the last Engineer was trying to recreate. A Lovecratftian species that also use biomechanical suits that the Engineers used to worship/fear who are the true creators of us, the engineers, and the Xenomorphs/bioweapons. This, and being infected by David with a certain strain of bioweapon, makes the Engineer change his plans.

MemberOvomorphMay-24-2012 10:58 AMthis isnt new though, is it? this theory has been raised and discussed a few times, ever since the debate of "who is in the chair" and "why would the ship be headed to earth" fused together.
i have to disagree about who the merc is shooting at, unless weyland gets back out of the chair. hes shooting at something thats coming directly towards him and ford.

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 4:17 AMI don't think Weyland is after the alien ship, think what does derelict got which Prometheus does not have????????????
I think he is after something more than that......................!!!
