MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 11:11 AMHere's my thinking: The Engineers are just that; biomechanical engineers; masters of bio-engineering, as the story goes? Think back to the first mention of the xeno creatures in ALIEN. Acid for blood, sheding cells and replacing them with polarized silicon,...? Sounds a lot like a robot? No?
Why all the emphasis on DAVID in the upcoming movie? In the upcoming PROMETHEUS; we (humans) have perfected an "artificial person" capable of replicating every human action and emotion, but unable to feel emotion. Capable of completing any task it is programed to complete. Infinate memory?
If the Engineers are masters of bio-engineering, then is it possilbe they could combine some kind of life-form with the technology which exists in DAVID? Wouldn't this new life-form or 'weapon' exibit characteristics of both a robot and an animal? Silicon flesh, acid for blood or operating fluid, almost impervious to extremes of temperature, especially cold; and able to exist for centuries or milenia without food or replentishment? Sure sounds like a connection to DAVID to me.........?
And it would fit in nicely with the original myth of Prometheus. A Titan steals or discovers technology from the gods and is punished for having the technology. In 2083 we have the technology to create another being indistinguishable from humans. We become gods ourselves and are punished for our possession of technology/DAVID.
Or maybe not.............?

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 11:17 AMBeen thinking this for a while just not nearly as in depth. Great post.
The paralell of David and androids being Weyland's creation and humans being the engineer's creation is too big to ignore.
And yes, that explains the whole biomechanical structure of the Alien.

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 11:16 AMAnd our technology is used against us, when the Engineers bio-engineer a weapon (ALIENS) through the use of our own technology: DAVID.
A lot of emphasis in the trailers and DAVID youtube vids of David's curiosity and wonderment with "big things/small beginnings", and whatever slimey stuff is in the 'vases'?

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 12:30 PMI don't think David creates the xeno morph. I think the xeno morph has been around for a long time already. Obviously I could be wrong. David carries so much weight in the story because he is a created life form, but he knows his makers. He is on a mission where his creators will find theirs. What does he want to do, how does he process all this? Does he want to be a creator/advancer as well? So he could create something...I guess it could be the xeno morph. But it's just my opinion that it won't be.

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 2:18 PMexcellent thinking on this, i had a feeling of david getting corrupted or something very strange happening to him in this movie, but i hadn't put the pieces together in the way you did, this would be cool in the movie if you are right.

MemberDeaconMay-12-2012 5:09 PMThis was something i thought about ages ago when we started to get info about the movie and after the trailers like IMAX one etc...
There was for me two possible outcomes for the Xeno...
1) David 8 fused with the Engineers Tech...
2) Shaws Baby Squid being the Mommy to Xenos.
Or maybe combination, a mix of some event that David, the Engineers Fire and Shaws Baby become the Xeno... David and Squidy are Daddy and Mommy.
But the more i read the information and clues, i came to conclude that i think the Xeno is created before this movie... a long time before and may be what nearly wiped out all the Engineers.
I did think David 8 would play a massive part, untill i noticed something in one shot, that was before others noticed and placed spoilers. So that was disapointment.
But SPOILER.......(I think there is two Davids, and Weyland wants to use the Engineers fire on one, to create a Replicant type Andriod hence Ridleys link to Blade Runner). END SPOILER.
So no i dont think David 8 becomes or creates the Xeno... but yes the theory you had and reasons was the same as why i also thought so a while back as the Xeno does look part machine...

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 5:33 PMJust a thought - is it possible that at the end David has morphed into the Space Jockey and has discarded the upper artificial torso and head, reminiscent of Ashe in Alien? Otherwise, the scene is as it appears- with a decapitated David.

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 8:01 PMI have to agree with Bladerunner70. This is not the first time I've heard about the xenomorph possibly being a hybrid of David and something else. That makes total sense to me. Moreover, the xenomorphs also seemed a bit mechanical to me in a sense, or rather that they appear bio mechanical almost.

MemberOvomorphMay-12-2012 8:58 PMI have been thinking about this same thing for quite some time now.
However, what would explain the hole in the Space Jockey's chest in Alien? From what we can tell here, the alien in Prometheus births from the mouth. Did David somehow reproduce asexually and lay eggs? And how would a face hugger get onto the Space Jockey? How are there so many eggs in Alien and from what we know, there aren't any in Prometheus but vases which resemble them. This is all related to David being the first Xenomorph because this is exactly what the Xenomorph lifecycle is. This theory only brings up more questions and I suppose we'll only find out soon enough.

MemberOvomorphMay-13-2012 6:46 AMhence the bio-mechanic stuff. metallic jaws. almost indestructible. no feelings. I was wondering when would someone bring this up
