MemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 9:30 AMVery wise decision to roll back this way, top it off with the best at the end. Enjoy the journey, I for myself have already done it... about 15 times. Ha-ha

Art DirectorMemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 9:50 AMThere is a scene in Thelma and Louise when they are looking, in complete calm and awe at the Grand Canyon and that black glossy helicopter suddenly rises (from nowhere seemingly)... all I saw was the Alien at that moment!

MemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 10:00 AMI don't see much point to reviewing the other 3 in preparation for Prometheus. Ridley will pay no homage to them other than a glimpse of the beast we know and love, I think he will ignore and perhaps even mildly insult the mythology that sprang up around the creature after he lost creative control. I truly hope he does, the alien life cycle as it exists now is a result of Jame's cameroons lazy writing. Cameroon treats his audience as if they are stupid, verbally explaining every single detail. I think Avatar is a good example, it is a total kid's movie. "Their bones are composed of a naturally occurring carbon fiber, they are very hard to kill" that line made my eyes roll so far back into my head I was blind for the rest of the movie.

MemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 10:14 AMIsn't it exraordinary how one never gets tired of watching those timeless masterpieces and just how much better they are than most of what gets produced nowadays? Which version particularly of Alien3 will you be watching?
Been treating myself in a similar fashion recently. Done 2001, ALIEN, Aliens, Alien3 (special edition), Blade Runner, The Duellists (to get deeper into Ridley's mind and origins). Now let's see how Prometheus will hold up against those. Oh man, I can't wait!!
As for appearances I'll be wearing a Weyland t-shirt and my Nostromo crew jacket, that's as far as I'll go...at least for the first viewing. ;-)

MemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 10:44 AM@the walls are alive: I guess by now, most people around here, including myself don't expect a straight tie-in to ALIEN anymore. The reason why I re-watched some of those movies is to get my mind set for it, remind myself of their greatness and foresight, once more absorb the mood and atmosphere of that all so familiar universe...
Avatar. Oh yes, I had many of those critical moments and I think I might have offended a couple of hard-lined fans sitting close by. Oh well...

MemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 10:45 AMI'm going to try watching Robin Hood backwards to see if that cancels out the one time I watched it forwards.

MemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 10:53 AM@takka_takka_takka: LOL! And while at it, let Alien Rez and AVP join the queue.

Art DirectorMemberOvomorphMay-08-2012 11:10 AMthanks @takka_takka_takka I had forgot (presumably on propose) about Robin Hood. I come from the U.K and hearing Russel Crowe murdering the accents that the tried along with others ... seriously that bad attempt made me cringe, I think its an insult to the English, the Irish, the Scottish and the welsh too.
(Not to mention Mcgreager's bad American accent in Black Hawk Down).

AVP and AVP R will not join the queue. I like a laugh, but I'm not keen on watching the p*ss being taken and the final death throws of such an original simple (and complex) idea and it being turned into a comic-book farce. We had no evidence of the creatures demise and Ripley hit the first with a plasma engine.
