MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 3:49 AMBingo. I saw it without seeing; the ringed planet in the back was itching something in my mind. Bravo!
We are in the world of post-productions...

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 3:54 AMLooks a shade darker too. I remember reading that 3D had to be shot with more light, but then would be darkened digitally for Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 3:55 AMI know this is not very important but what the hell

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 3:55 AMhaha! right...! when i first saw this particular shot last year,
i was pretty much in awe, then seeing it again yesterday, my mind
registered it a bit differently, hence my comparing the two
yeah, gotta love some good solid post-production modifications
ah..! good catch Shambhala! thanx for sharing

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 3:58 AM@shardy I think that your photos are in fact two separate trips back to prometheus (clouds in the sky can mean another day or another time)
But who knows, maybe they are just modifications and editing ...

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:03 AMyou make a valid point, perhaps that could be the case
with these particular images that i have been fixating on
can't wait to find out how this all plays out

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:08 AM@Shambala,
"@shardy I think that your photos are in fact two separate trips back to prometheus (clouds in the sky can mean another day or another time)"
Humm...I don´t think so. If you look carefully, you will see that the mountain line behind the ship is different. It could be the effect of a different perspective, but I think it´s not because the positions of the rocks in the soil are the same.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:20 AM@centrosphere
Yeah, it is possible that it has nothing to do with two trips, in fact as maybe Shardy says is just a design change or editing like this:

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:32 AMyikes! that is a major difference in those 2 Engineer crafts
and not in a good way. where did you get the second pic from?

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:36 AMFrom the international trailer:

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:38 AMThe derelict is inverted in the second image!

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:42 AMYeah but this model is thicker and wide and the "hammerhead" has been partially modified. It does not look much like a croissant, looks more like a donut LOL

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:53 AMYeah, it's just rotated 180 degrees in the second image. Check this out, now with more color coding...

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 4:55 AMMaybe they thought it looked better falling that way? Or who knows, maybe they rendered it the first time landing upside-down after it rolls when it was supposed to be right-side up (or vice versa) and they changed it for continuity reasons.

MemberTrilobiteApr-27-2012 4:57 AMFirst I was the first to spot this a while back...
1. its the same shot amended in post production...
2. to look closer to the original Derelict in Alien.
3. its being rotated 180 degrees.
4. the ground below has also been amended to match.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 5:00 AMVery graphic @juston, everything seems more clear now
thanks for show

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 5:02 AMAnd Yeah @Snorkelbottom , certainly the turning of the ship was discussed in another thread earlier

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 5:09 AMNo problem, Shambhala. I live to serve.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 9:50 AMAnyone else think that the explosion on the juggernaut is against the wrong aspect (along one of it's arms) and therefore not likely to be Prometheus in impact with the ship?
Trailer footage of the Prometheus impact shows surface features on the juggernaut consistent with the center of the "U"'.

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 1:48 PMGCI is extremely expensive and it is plausible that they had extra budget and wanted to change certain pictures. Sometimes the production crew sees something that would make a more profound impact to the viewer. The first pic showed clouds in the back which is a cheaper scene to create but with a left over budget adding in the planet in the back ground makes it more epic, especially, in the 3D.
The great thing of GCI is it's much easier to recreate it on a computer than reshoot a whole scene again once the movie is done.
Good observations TS!

MemberOvomorphApr-27-2012 2:39 PMgiven the significant looking changes in the Engineer's ship crashing,
perhaps those initial images seen above were (possibly) polished FX
tests only used for the teaser trailer...?
i prefer how the craft looked before, and not with these changes
but...it is what it is
damn...
