The 'AMPULES'/'EGGS' conundrum...

Okay, this is something I included in a list of speculations on my recent 'The who's right and who's WRONG thread!' topic...but since I don't recall it being brought up before, I thought it was something worth a little more discussion. Here's the thing - I seem to recall a few notions here that the 'ampule' urn containers in PROMETHEUS 'somehow turn into' the 'xenomorph' eggs that we see in ALIEN...and that they are destined for 'Earth' at the end of the movie... But I don't think that may turn out to be the case...because although it's possible that some of the PROMETHEUS urn containers have certain 'DNA' ingredients inside them that start off the process to grow into 'facehugger' eggs...I reckon there could be a very different scenario that explains them.... Simply this - the leathery 'eggs' have been found and collected by one of the 'Space-Jockey's from an unknown planet somewhere...and instead of being destined for 'Earth', are actually in the process of being transported back to the planet (and 'pyramids') seen in PROMETHEUS for study and for probable inclusion in their 'armory' stored there... These mysterious 'eggs' have ALREADY 'evolved' somewhere else...but due to an incident on route back to it's destination, the 'Space-Jockey' and 'Derelict' craft seen in ALIEN never made it, and had to crashland on a nearby planet in the same system.... And the ongoing 'warning' signal was purely intended for the other 'Space-Jockeys' nearby! If this is correct, then we may not get any kind of explanation to do with the 'xenomorph' eggs in this latest movie, whatsoever... Thoughts/expectations?

Glad to input: yeah..it's plausible....but to our dismay...we are all trying to find answers we are entitled to about the xenos too...

Just to clarify, I'd be quite content to retain the mystery of the 'xenomorphs' origins in this movie, if that proved to be the case... Others may be a little discontented however, lol.

Well I am under the impression that we will see the creation of the Xeno in Prometheus. If we look at how the reproduction process worked in Alien I think it is entirley plausible that the progenitor could use 'biological' contents within the Ampules to create the eggs. The thousands of eggs could only be created through throusands of Ampules (which we have). We only have 17 humans and I would guess a Jockey egg would be much bigger than the eggs in Alien; so judging by size I think the Ampule is a logical choice. However, this is pure speculation and it breaks down if the derelict in Alien is as Dallas says thousands of years old (due to the fossilisation). However, I believe this could easily be explained by something atmospherical / a defense mechanism from the Jockey or / cocconing from the Xeno.......

This is ANOTHER super slow trailer. at about 8:32 till 8:35 you see the sj ship rising from under ground, beneath it you can see the rounded smooth shapes of what looks like a bunch of EGGs. Even appears to have the 4 corners that fold down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1i_g3zpOJmk

If I may, in the 2nd leaked phoney plot outline it was suggested that, and I think it is in fact what we will see, The Ampules or Vials if you will, contain a "viscous" liquid used by the Engineer's to create any of thousands of different life forms. In the case of the Xeno life form it is also suggested that these vials have been used to "Terraform Other Worlds" I am of the firm belief that those ampules/vials do in fact contain this liquid known as "BIOFORMER" and that as Punishment for stealing some of them for closer examination on board Prometheus, the Jockey{s}/The Engineers, have decided to punish mankind by loading up a bunch of them on what I believe will be the Derelict and then sending it on a course for Earth. Needless to say I also believe that what we are seeing in the trailer is an order the Company Gave to Stop this from happening to either Vickers or David or whomever is still alive at that point from The Crew by attempting to intercept "The Derelict", being executed....and thus Stranding The "Derelict" on LV-426

There are a lot of ifs buts and maybes in this movie. We really could be suprised, its so open from what we have seen that its hard to work out what the final movie will show us. We dont know if there is only one Derelict, why would a Race have only one craft? We see more than one Temple and the ground that opens up looks big enough to house more than one Ship? Maybe or maybe not, and what of the Saucer? If we knew the order of the scenes, and if we knew for sure that the Derelict in this movie is the one that lands on LV426 then that will allow us to narrow down what could be happening. Ridley and Lindelof had said some interesting things that play a massive part to the plot. They hinted at. The Jockey carrying a Cargo and the Ship in Alien had parked on the planet and not crashed. They hinted this movie is where the Mommy meets the Daddy. The Last 8 minutes will tie in with Alien and you will see the Xenos DNA. This leaves many questions still, all the above points to is maybe the Ship in this movie manages to leave LV223 and get to LV426 with a Cargo that could wipe out or Change Mankinds DNA. But that does not mean it carries Eggs but the Ampules instead. So something would have had to had happened to make the Pilot park on LV426 and then let out a warning becon, something must have gone wrong. Something would have had to had stopped (kill/infect) the Jockey. And a good bet would be the Xeno or the Mother/Proto Xeno, but how? I agree that if the Derelicts are connected maybe we wont see the Eggs, maybe we will see just Ampules and be left with question, how did they change into the Eggs at the end of the movie. I think the Derelicts may be two seperate ships mainly because the one in Alien does not have any sarcophagus.

Another thing i have noticed is that what David was pulling out of the Ampule did look like he was pulling out like a Peeled Banana, you can see what ever it is there are 4 parts to it that look connected? Or maybe just 4 seperate Embrios/Organisms or what ever. Now the Eggs in Alien etc open up as though you peel a Banana? Maybe the Organism/Material David pulls out of the Ampules turn into the Eggs? We just dont know, there are many posibilities to every aspect of this movie and its a hard Mystrey to Solve. And i would not be suprised if the truth is a little bit "outside the box" and some elements will suprise us as something we never saw comming.

@ Constealltion88 - If its the part that Im thinking youre referring to, then thats just the end of the Space Jocleys canon/telescope - Interesting enough, ever since I first noticed them, I thought they could maybe be eggs/some type of containers of life.

@ Spartacus - you should have put all that in my 'The who's right and who's WRONG thread!' topic, but it's nice to see all your own speculations/hopes(s?) laid out in your post here. By the way, did you see my response to you on page 2 of that thread? @ WhyDontTheyFreezeHim - Constealltion88 was referring to the shapes BELOW the 'Derelict' as it seems to lift off in the trailer when we see the 'plates' above it open up... And that's a great shot of a 'Space-Jockey' apperatus there...but the rounded 'nodules' on that model are different to what we see on the 'tip' of the construct as it rises towards us in the trailers... I'm of the mind that we are seeing the flattened ends of several 'ampule' urn containers loaded into a 'gun' of some sort, which can be readied to fire towards a planet... Possibly... @ Constealltion88 - After studying the shot of the 'Derelict' rising, I reckon that's just a serated-shaped 'platform' of sorts that the craft is taking off from...and NOT leathery 'eggs'.

@ Cervantes - I see it now! Looks like a birds nest with eggs and the bird(the derelict) flying away lol ;) The rounded 'nodules' are like that on the real Space Jockeys 'canon' in Alien too. Maybe the 'nodules' in Prometheus are shaped different for whatever reason?...(like you said, maybe theyre ampule urns in prometheus?) They look to be the same rounded shape to me though. Dunno.

@ WhyDontTheyFreezeHim - Really?, I don't recall being able to clearly see the detailing on the end of the 'tip' of the 'Space-Jockey's apperatus in the actual movie footage. But I'll check that out on my Blu-ray later on. If that's indeed the case, then I'm completely wrong on that, or it's another possible 're-design' on Ridley's part where the original production designs are concerned.

@Cervantes - Yeah, you dont get to see it in the actual movie itself, but in the "making of" pics Ive collected from the blu ray anthology and various other sources, you clearly see the space jockey from all angles and in various stages of its build. It looks exactly like that model replica in my previous post. The replica is EXTREMELY accurate to the movie version infact. He took years just gathering his reference photos(back when the internet was young and before blu ray etc etc) Im going to be making a large scale model replica of it too one day, so I have gathered hundeds of reference photos of it. I think have gathered ALL available photos of the real space jockey now! I also have a tonne of reference from all the best replicas out there. So yeah, I kind of know the space jockey look like the back of my hand right now. If you have the blu ray anthology, check the last disk(disk 6), it has plenty of space jockey pics and video footage on that.

@ Spartacus - that's good, and I'll look forward to re-reading what you reckon. @ WhyDontTheyFreezeHim - Ah, as I thought then. In that case the theory about the 'ampule' gun still holds at the moment, as I'm only going by what was visible in ALIEN (or not, in this case), rather than the actual prop design. Seeing as the end of the 'tip' wasn't shown clearly in ALIEN, Ridley might easily have changed things to incorporate the 'flattened' urn container 'bullets' instead...
