MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 10:49 PMI noticed that as well. It sorta looks like the "old school" style ones they used in Alien.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 10:51 PMOld school? or future school?...'Alien' is not past, but future....

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 10:53 PMyeah, it kinda reminds me a bit of the tougher look of the ALIEN
surface suits, and it also reminds my a bit of those now vintage
heavy diver suits. future school style of course...

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 11:04 PMi wouldn't mind seeing that,
my guess though, is that it's just there for eye-candy, and not for actual use

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 11:17 PMI think it plays an important role in the film. i think it's actually a sort of construction suit that helps you lift up really heavy objects. I think Shaw's gonna use it to fight with some large alien of sorts! In the Weyland website it talks about a suit that helps you lift heavy objects, it's in the corporate timeline section! It's called the power loader this is from the site:
Power Loader Patented
Weyland Industries earns patent number 15,725,924 for Method and Apparatus for a mechanised exo-skeleton used for lifting and moving heavy objects such as crates and vehicle weaponry.

I thouht the same thing! But since I think Prometheus will make those movies non-canon I think this is talking about the shiny red suit!
"Get away from her you BITCH!!"
Love that line!

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 12:14 AMThe suit going to wear by Peter in this chapter going outside Prometheus shipt to one of the temple. You know Peter is immobility compare to other crews.

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 12:44 AM@Synthrimonger94: you've made a valid point.
perhaps this thread isn't so pointless after all

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 12:47 AMThat patent for the suit has to be for weyland. You see him in a still, looks like a mechanical attachment outside the suit, maybe so a 100 year old man can get around by himself? Not too sure but I feel that having a battle with a large creature inside a mechanical robot designed to load equipment is a little to familiar to the aliens story. I'm hoping for a lot more original of an idea.

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 1:14 AMAs Star Trek evolves into the future...humans begin to wear less clothing . Especially in space...The longer in space the more they become more like the Borg. That's why "resistance is futile!". Especially when it's naked woman in a MECH Battle Suit blastin Xenos'... You want to be with the BORG! So it is imperative that all androids are shown the movie "The Muppets", so they are aware of the difference of being a 'Man or a Muppet!".

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 1:53 AMI think the Imax trailer has yet another space suit in a shot when dune buggy is exiting cargo-bay.
BellaisanAlien
MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 3:30 AMthis could equally just be part of the ship or equipment.....

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 6:53 AM@Syntrimonger...
Not correct. The POWER LOADER is what Ripley is in battling the Queen and what the Marines use to move cargo on the Sulaco and lift the weapons loads into the Dropshit.
Its like a fork lift.
It the hardened Red suit is just for those crew more exposed to the elements for more protection/durability... ie: the ones riding in the open dunebuggies as opposed to those who travel in the big RV :)

No thread is pointless you had a good reason to post this the suit mught be extremely important in the movie! I believe that suit will be used to kick some alien butt or as stated above by Weyland though I do remember seeing some pics with him in a regular space suit?
@Canadaphil
I was talking about the power loader in my above post not the shiny red suit! A certain member thought the patent in the Weyland website was talking about the power loader and it is not so I believe it is talking about the red suit in this post! I was just expressing my love for that line from Aliens!!!
