MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 2:02 PMI absolutely LOVE this idea. I also think it is somehow related to the Xenomorph. I believe in my heart of hearts right now that Ridley will present the Xeno as exactly what he said he would before he even knew he was making this film...a TOOL born of Terraforming and Biomechanic Weaponization.

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 3:27 PMAs long as the human aspect of this idea comes after the PROMETHEUS enters the alien planet and not before.
I like the idea of everything being of non human/Earth origin.
Odd, surreal, uneasy, simply put truly alien.

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 4:35 PMYour ideas here make sense to me except, I believe there will be a Prometheus parallel to this movie's story. Ridley said where expedition from earth arrives they find "uncivilized behavior" already going on there. Maybe Weyland's actions make things worse though.

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 5:04 PMI'm very keen on this possible nano-tech scenario too. I hope complex
and bizarre plot elements will underpin everything and leave us 'aghast
and agog' .

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 5:38 PMAwhile back I speculated in another thread somewhere that the atmosphere of LV-426 may have been affected by chemicals in the Derelict to cause a change in the atmosphere when it crashed. But I don't think they would use nano technology as we envision it. It'll be nastier if they do use it ;-)

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 6:25 PMI don't agree it's cheaper just to send people in space suits

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 6:45 PMtoo much risk of failure and a quart of whatever figure being wasted they don't have the technology to do that either otherwise in aliens we would not have seen the atmospheric processing statiom... but they might send sattalite in advance

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 6:55 PMOr...you might send 60 to 70 families to build and operate a gigantic fusion power atmosphere processor!
ALL generalizations are WRONG!

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 6:58 PMOkay I understand their is an action movie called Aliens that doesn't have a lot of well thought out futuristic technology. If you believe Prometheus has to oblige that story then I can't argue. Personally I hope the movie does not get it's hands tied like that though.

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 9:16 PMI think the TED talk mention of nano tech, has thrown the proverbial wrench in the 1979 ALIEN wheel. If 30 years later you have this tow truck of a ship, that gets covertly involved in a corporate clandestine attempt to follow up on a previous mission that was claimed publicly a failure due to the SJ conflict. There is something that doesn't right about the nanotech aspect of the idea.
Simply trespassing on any earthly sentient beings territory will provoke a response, and most times not a friendly response.
I think the concept of the SJ being indifferent towards the visitors until they take what isn't theirs will be fun part. The pure technical brutality exhibited on the humans from the in side out, is what some are waiting to experience when they heard Ridley say alien dna.

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 9:38 PMI kid... I like your idea much. It would be ok by my standards to bend the story a bit to fit science of today. Not that we're there yet with nanotechnology, but it may not be far away. Heck...in 79 when alien hit theaters, black holes were only a theory! A lot has changed in science..
ALL generalizations are WRONG!

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 11:16 PMAll this hard core scifi speculations are fun to read, and I appreciate folks finding the time to post their thoughts. But as far as big budget summer blockbuster that Fox is heavily promoting, such exotic concepts & knowledge would go over the heads of most moviegoers.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 3:49 PMThat sounds about right, weyland found something in the deep reaches of space, something he secretly coveted more than he showed on his exterior, not fully understanding it, yet wanted it to continue his upward climb on the ladder. When the prometheus mission fails and does not bring back what they find to him, but the secret is out that whatever it was, was hostile towards the human race, weyland has to keep any searching for it a major secret or risk the populace turning on him, so his next available attempt to collect the specimen is when the nostromo happens to be the excuse he needs to get in the area of lv-426, by then he is out of the game and the company is now"The Company" (i.e. to big for it's britches) and picks up the trek of collecting the specimen for it's bio-weapons division. They re-route the nostromo, and havoc ensues yet again....and again......and again.... (i dunno)
