about a year and a half ago, I first read Spaiths's script for Alien Harvest and was blown away. in 1979 I was 17 and my Father was in charge of IRWIN TOYS. He flew me to NYC for my first TOY show that year where he was big player, and the first thing that happened was he handed me a package, a long one. In that long box, when I got it unwrapped, I found the first ever Alien doll...THE ACTUAL prototype which all the rest of the dolls worldwide were built from. I asked him what it did...and he pulled out the JAW and I went absolutely wild, and have been doing the same ever since. Ridley Scott is a true MASTER of cinema on the order of Orson Wells, Stanley Kubrick and Sergio Leone...you know...people like that. He is changing the art of film making forever and once again with this project and I for one could not be more pleased. The homosexuality did not bother me one bit in the original script, and a lot of other people complained which I found completely bizarre and I am admittedly a bit homophobic....but it fit the script and made sense...and I was amazed at how LOST many people are when it comes to film making. because that script was incredibly good. My understanding is he has edited a lot of it now Scott has and for the better and that also pleases me. The thing of it is, when this thing is all said and done, I am quite comfortable to say it is going to take a MAJOR PLACE in film history and may turn out to be one of if not the single greatest sci-fi film{s} ever made. Make no mistake about it, this is gonna end up being Ridley at his absolute best!!!

You were blown away by Alien Harvest? Are you on a wind up mission? You do realise that piece of shit was made up? It was absolutely terrible and all you people that even considered this a script should be sighing with relief http://twitter.com/#!/jonspaihts/status/97519355125964800 Jon Spaihts puts the Alien Harvest speculation to rest It's been about a year and a half since the Alien Harvest script popped-up online. The script that was claimed to be the Alien prequel script written by Jon Spaihts, and later rewritten by Damon Lindelof into Prometheus. There have been a handful of fake scripts for various other highly anticipated movies in the past, but this one sort of stood out. Although the story was nowhere near as good as any Alien fan would expect, and the story touched some controversial subjects, it just didn't come across as another one of those typical fanboy made-up scripts. And so, unfortunately, this alleged script created a lot of heated debate in forums and websites across the world wide web. Is it real or is it fake? Late last week Damon Lindelof claimed that he'd never heard of Alien Harvest, and now to fina

@ Spartacus - Wow that's awesome that you had the prototype for the original toy. I've been looking for that toy for a while but have not found it at a reasonable price. (I work in the toy industry and collect higher-end toys). When you get a chance take a look at the Alien toy/statue products released by NECA, Hot Toys, and Sideshow collectibles. With your like of Alien and your father's history in the toy world you'll likely appreciate the toys being released now. As for "Alien Harvest", I can't say I like the script...Well to be honest, I thought it was rather boring. So much so that I didn't finish reading it. I got 55 pages in and then realized there was no way this was something Ridley was contemplating. I won't pretend to know how Ridley thinks or plans his work, but that script is really a contradiction of the overall tone in the first Alien movie. By the way, that is the first time I can recall ever stopping in the middle of any piece of material. I always give the writer the benefit of the doubt because I feel he/she still has the opportunity to surprise me in the end. (Just trying to express the extent of my dislike for that particular script.) Still, if you enjoyed the script, that's good! At least you had fun reading it! Just don't get your hopes up for seeing that particular story on the big screen. Its likely to be a fake script.

I think the thing I liked about it was or appeared to be a new ALIEN script and it had many elements that fit with the 4 previous films so I bought into it and I personally read it 3 times and loved it because it made sense...there were some things in it that got me really excited like seeing the Baby Alien Ant Hill and Aliens that looked like the "RESURRECTION" OPENING CREDITS REDO THAT INCLUDED THAT BABY ALIEN. I was excited to see the Space Jockey revisited and with a total explanation that made sense. In the end I think I was just excited that someone understood it was time for a new addition to the franchise and they were smart enough to get SCOTT on board with it. Because if there is one guy on this earth that can create a new and CREDIBLE Alien addition, It is him, and knowing him, I know he's going to make this thing an eye popping thrill ride. And the proof of this was confirmed with his first hire for the project... H.R. Geiger!!! Whether that script was authentic or not is still debatable and anyone that read it and says it wasn't good, IMO and with all due respect, does not know very much about screen writing and how difficult that is or have any clue what so ever about what goes into making a film like this.

thank you guys for your comments and please forgive me for being so opinionated myself, let's agree to disagree about that script.

I just read the entire Alien Harvest script for the first time and with an open mind because of this thread. Sorry but my opinion is that it is technically a complete mess of a script and has a very uninteresting and at some times laughable story. Alien has its roots in horror but this script seems more like a nerdy soap opera. Nothing in it really seems to line up with what has been leaked from Prometheus thankfully.

fair opinion, And from a technical point you are correct by majority opinion, still, I just thought it had some cool ideas in it and that it's got to be quite hard to write a script like that.

funny to read this again, One of My 1st official posts here back in the middle of last year. Turned out in the end this script I was referring to was a complete fake by a jealous screen writing wanna be according to Spaiths himself. Never the less I liked it a lot and some of those ideas in it are prelevant in the new trailer including the tiny wiggling worm creatures. Which in that story were in fact the Xenomorph predecessor.

And on another point scripts go through various drafts before they result in anything concrete as the people behind alien will testify, listen to giler's comments regarding dan's script, he had almost given up when hill told him to keep reading. Another film that became a great success for ridley was gladiator, it had loads of rewrites and disputes about it as well as new writers on board to give it some more direction and appeal . Its seems an occurring theme for great films, blade runner with david peoples input may or may not have been the classic we love today. All in all the script is the bare bones of a film and the process goes through a hell of lot of various changes to become something great, from editing, to actors input and ideas, to great mistakes in production, all this can and does contribute to the making of a classic.
