Hi Guys, I was just wondering what kind of information we currently have on the Space Jockey's Anatomy? What will it look like when mobile? How will it walk? Ridley has been quoted saying that it is a being within a "carcus"; giving some indication of maybe a mech suit or outer shell. So what does it actually look like underneath it's so called, suit? I've also read a topic here that talks about the use of its suit by one of Prometheus' crew in the third act of the film. Also; we've seen a picture of the human head in what appears to be the Space Jockey's ship. Is the Space Jockey human? Or at least humanoid? So many questions! If anyone could shed a little light on the matter, or share ideas it would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

Well, from ALIEN we can determine that the Space Jockey has some humanoid characteristics. You can clearly make out the head, two arms and fingers. Not too much is known about them, aside from what you already mentioned. My guess is that they (or their suits) look very "elephant-like" in nature. The creatures inside them, who knows. That's where the "suspense" comes into play. BUT, if we are going with the hypothesis that the Space Jockeys created humans, and going by the Christian Bible which states that humans were made in "God's Image" then I don't think it's very "far out there" to assume that they will have some definite human like characteristics. Hopefully some more concept artwork will be released, or some more screen caps will be show cased so we can have a better grasp on the subject. But until then, it's anyone's guess.

Ok so if the Jockey's are using a Bio Suit (like in Independence Day) then I could see the trunk part being a sort of biological rebreather/filtration system or oxygen supply to the head of the wearer. The Huge eyes would definitely give you a huge field of view in a sort of bioHUD. I have no clue as to how the suits could ambulate if the jockey are any bigger than a human. If the jockey's bio suits are huge then the jockey's themselves could very feasibly be around our size or smaller.

I'm going to have to look at the BlueRay again searching for damage to the exterior of the Space Jockey. Remember it had to dissolve the entire front of Kane's helmut to get inside and envelop his head. If you credit the Space Jockey with the kind of technology to create/engineer the xenomorph wouldn't it also be able to treat an infection by said organism? I'll cover the possibilities, yes it may have removed the helmut after reviving. Yes it may have been the only crew member on the Derelict. If you had experience with this organism and you woke up with your environmental suit compromised and evidence that is was by a facehugger the oh S*&t! alarms would be going off in your head. Even the damaged EEV in Alien 3 had the ability to run a diagnostic on Ripley and spot the Queen embryo. A much larger ship like the derelict must have had a medlab onboard like the Nostromo. I'm giving the Space Jockey some credit here. A ship carrying that kind of cargo should have certain measures of failsafe mechanisms in order to handle those unforeseen events. Unless the cargo was stolen, unless it was a human in that suit, oh I better stop. More questions now than ever.....geez.

Answer me this. The jockeys use a biosuit. Now the suit itself is a living organism and has to be fed and maintained inorder to keep it alive. Who's to say the facehugger didn't impregnate the "suit" thus killing it and inturn the jockey itself when the suit dies. Thus giving the jockey inside time to set off a signal. Does anyone have any ideas on what happened to the alien that came from the Jockey? Was it the one that laid the egss under the blue force field or were they already there?

And if Vickers is in in the suit, and the alien derelict is the transformed Prometheus spaceship? Facehuggher size are too small to infect the space jockey. So inside there is a body with the head much smaller

Answering yor question Rick,I strongly believe the eggs were already under the blue force field in a sort of suspended animation until they were needed or as we see in Alien, when something breaks the field. As i wrote in my topic 'Ripleys escape', the Alien was supposed to have a limited life cycle and once completed it breaks down spilling acid everywhere and dies,a superweapon you dont have to contain. This is what i believe happened to the Alien that came out of the space jockey. If you look closely at the hole Kane descends,it appears to have been melted through. I think the alien simply reached the end of its cycle, died and the resulting acid release caused the hole. Its an idea I think holds continuity, what you think? A bigger question is how did the space jockey become the victim? Was it sabotage? I cant believe a face hugger got out by chance or the space jockey had a nasty tumble into the egg pits...

Thadus 12

MemberOvomorph08/20/2011
Or maybe, this jockey stole the ship in order to stop the eggs from been used, crashed it on a dead moon on purpose and the resulting crash let out a facehugger?

MemberOvomorph08/20/2011
Here is a scary thought. The Alien roughly takes the size and form of its host perhaps a little bigger. For humans probably about 7-9 feet tall. The "dog" in Alien 3 was shorter only 3-5 feet tall. If that holds true and that space jockey is big... What the heck did the Alien grow to be?

Hi Rick! Everything is merely supposition until it's in print or on screen. In this day and age considering how long fans have theorized given the few facts we have I wouldn't discredit any plausible suggestion. There are some who believe that the derelict was carrying the embryo's as it's cargo thus the need for a stasis field to keep the cargo from hatching prematurely. The more dynamic theory is based on the hole burned in the deck plating near the Space Jockey. The xenomorph obviously adapts to it's environment, after reaching maturity without any additional prey organisms it changed it's biochemistry enabling it to become a queen. The Queen spends it's lifespan spawning and placing her progeny in the cargo hold beneath the control dias on the derelict. With it's job finished she dies and decomposes over the course of time. Some time later the luckless crew of the Norstomo arrives and explores the ship. Kane said, " There"s a layer of mist, covering the eggs, that reacts when broken." That's the only thing that makes me think that the eggs were the ships cargo. The hole in the floor suggests something a little more violent occurred, I dunno, I've been wondering for years.

Biomechanic- I totally agree that the queen wont feature in the new film/s,that was Camerons vision not Ridley's. As regards to where all the eggs came from? Did the space jockeys grow the eggs themselves or did they also produce victims for the facehugger and the resulting alien then transformed them into eggs? Its the old 'chicken and the egg' problem ha ha

Looking at the leaked pics of Prometheus,it does show someone going through some sort of metamorphosis? Maybe you're onto something there Biomechanic? Its certainly gonna take some creative writing to sort out all these unanswered questions, im praying they do it justice!

There was no damage to the exterior cause the pipe was drilling into the ground from the ship or vise versa

The "edit" feature should be fixed now Ruhaniya. Thanks for letting us know! And on topic... Suggesting that the Space Jockeys are part of a much larger hierarchy brings up alot of ideas! I never considered that!

I didnt like the addition of the idea that an incubating alien takes on some of the charecteristics of its host as in 'Alien 3' . Will ridley even acknowledge the alien queen idea introduced by Cameron (which i did like) and weave that into the story, we just dont know. I think he'll stay clear of any of any of that stuff. The Jockeys body in alien had a mouth and teeth, wouldn't these be unusual if it is a 'suit' in the traditional sense. Can anyone link me up to the script leaks

Its great to see many imaginations coming up with ideas about the Space Jockey. To think of an idea for your answer EXCESSION. I understand what your saying and thought that myself. How could this be a suit? But am sure if it is a suit, the human most MORPH into the space jockey. Although the Jockey is a extremely larger in size compared to a human being so not sure how that is going to work ha. If it does i hope its a great story behind it.

@Biomechanic-I think you're onto something about those screen caps we've seen. It appears that one of the crew members, possibly Shaw brings back an egg/urn with them on board. From the two screen shots of what looks to be the infirmary, they appear to be monitoring/examining the item that was brought back. Maybe this is used against the Space Jockeys near the end of the film. It's certainly a possibility. I have to say I'm really surprised that more people on here aren't discussing the images that were posted a couple weeks ago. I think they leave a lot to the imagination and plenty room for discussion about the movie itself. I'm not as concerned as some of the others on here with Ridley trying to explain what happened to the lone Space Jockey seen in the first Alien as I am with seeing new Space Jockey characters and their interaction with the crew of the Prometheus. I think based on what we'll see in Prometheus, we'll be able to infer what happened to that particular Space Jockey but don't need a straight narrative on the exact events that led to him crash landing on LV-426.

I have the new Blue Ray 6 disc Anthology. On the Audio Commentary Ridley Scott likens the Space Jockey's craft to a sort of "Aircraft Carrier" with the eggs being weapons. He says that he wants to explore and answer the questions of where the Space Jockey and the Aliens come from in a future "5 & 6".

some kind of giant telepathic "elphantile-like" massive creature was the way they described the so called "growers" in the so called "phony" Spaiths script. that being said... I think of the space jockey as one of the growers. that covers the outside for me. the inside i leave open to how Ridley determines to address that for everyone...cause I do think we're going to find out 100%. my guess about what happened to the original Face-Hugger that got into the "Prometheus" I guess their going to call it {if they intend on referring to the ship with that name}, and impregnated that Space Jockey... ...it like many many others I imagine as they first arrived swarmed that entire cavernous area of LV426 and cleaned it out of every living thing down there, if there even was any, which allowed a queen to lay all "dem" eggs that KANE first so deliberatley encountered bringing us all here to this point 35 years later. that Face-Hugger is really incidental to the story/timeline now but I think you could make a whole side movie spin off...lmao...about that particular Xenomorph's life. imagine the possibilities...lol.

Posted 08/21/2011
My thought is the spacejockey was a crew member of the prometheus and was transformedd. I mentioned this in another thread. Maybe the alien that emerged from the space jockey created the eggs. That would mean the spacejockey was looking over a bunch of humans frozen in stasis for some reason. In the original script their was only one empty egg sack in the derelict ship and the jockey had carved a triangle into the dashboard of the ship. Later the dust storm clears and they see a pyramid that they think the jockey was referring to with his drawing and they go to explore it. Inside one member finds a room with thousands of eggs with hieroglyphs on the wall that explains the alien life cycle. Ridley can't really redo the original movie to make this happen but he may expand this idea. Maybe the space jockey went to this pyramid and brought the single egg from this pyramid back to his ship and it infected him and then the resulting spacejockey xenomorph found a large cache of human material asleep and used up it's remaining days making eggs out of them. After it's death they sit on this planet patiently waiting for a host.
-------------- wow given the date of that post Biomechanic it may turn out to be a historically brilliant piece of speculation...and nothing less. I don't want to see it in the film personally, but it is Brilliance given WHEN you came up with that.

My money is on Vickers getting squished by the crashing derelict, in spite of her starting out as a suit, who turns out to have a conscience. The Prometheus is destroyed in the crash, stranding Shaw, who somehow gets aboard the crashed derelict. While morphing maybe into something else, she figuresd out how to save herself long enough to get into the SJ Chair and send the warning "warning" beacon picked up by the Nostromo. So, the Sj in ALIEN is SHAW. Just idle speculation. Somebody can buy me a beer in June if I'm right, cheers. -sg1054
