Hey Folks, You know, I’ve been wondering…Who’s going to compose the music/score/soundtrack for PROMETHEUS? Since the magnificent Jerry Goldsmith died back in 2004 (a great loss), we have a dilemma. Which film composer is going to give the film it’s heart and pulse? Goldsmith gave ALIEN such a unique, dark, atmospheric, and beautiful tone, that even after 32 years…it still haunts my thoughts from time to time. So…which composer’s music would you like to hear in PROMETHEUS? ~Neurion

Hmmmmm...maybe Hans Zimmer, Klaus Badelt, or what about James Horner (ALIENS). I don't know, maybe they're too conventional. It's probably better if R. Scott chooses or chose somebody less familiar...capable of producing strange or unorthodox tones, as well as beautiful, melodic pieces...like Goldsmith did. What about Graeme Revell? Who can could it be?

Blade Runner's composer Vangelis? Maybe too synthesizerish. In a BR interview Ridley shows great respect for him . Zimmer would be great too. Guess it depends on the style Rid wants, symphonic, contemporary, operatic. I know I'm all over the place. I just don't know. It's hard to believe completion of principle photography is at hand. I know I've said this before and I'll say it again. Don't worry about Noomi being up to the task of the lead actress. She is not as articulate as Therone or Weaver but remember, English is not her primary language. Rid knows what he's doing. Noomi says Rid sees every movie and has certainly seen Noomi's "Daisey Diamond". It is a difficult movie to watch. It's a very bleak story of a single mother/struggling actress wannabe with an infant that cries constantly. I'm going to put some clips of Noomi in "DD" on youtube tonight (at least one). Check them out. Noomi is the bomb I promise you.

What about Clint Mansell? He wrote music for A for 'Requiem for a Dream', 'The Fountain' (I recommend that film and OST!) and 'Black Swan'. Others have been mentioned above: John Williams Hans Zimmer Vangelis James Horner

I have a feeling that Hans Zimmer is going to make a score. He worked for Scott before: Black Rain (1989) Thelma & Louise (1991) Gladiator (2000) Hannibal (2001) Black Hawk Down (2001) Matchstick Men (2003) He also wrote music for: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises (2012). On the other hand, Marc Streitenfeld, a German film score composer, is also known for his collaborations with Ridley. He made music for Scott's last movies: A Good Year (2006) American Gangster (2007) Body of Lies (2008) Robin Hood (2010)

If you have ever watched the underrated pandorum, then michl Britsch, the composer is awaesome, really creepy music and it would be so effective in the alien movies.

Clint Mansell is is too comtep. Hans Zimmer may not suit a horror... although maybe a hint at Goldsmiths work would work on this film

@Bishop, I don't know Bish...Hans Zimmer scored the horror film "THE RING", which was plenty scary...to me at least, and a pretty respectable horror film. But I totally agree and would like to hear a hint of Goldsmith...like what James Horner did with ALIENS, i.e. echo sounds, etc... ~Neurion

Hey...what about Brian Eno. He's pretty capable or producing very interesting, strange, etherial, and beautiful pieces. Might be cool to have him handle a particular theme or two. You know...just to provoke a separation or a different feel when going from human to Alien subject matter or imagery in the film. I'm really going to miss Jerry Goldsmith's ALIEN music. His howling and haunting tones on the planetoid and Nostromo exteriors, the bizzare electronic echoing tonalities within the Derelict ship, and the beautiful arias that provoke a sense of wonder...so unique and rare in a horror film. ~Neurion

Good choices too! I would imagine a theme that is fantastic, mysterious and down right Hitchcock..where the music will aid in the scare factor...

Elliot Goldenthal. Alien 3 Public Enemies Heat Titus Or Angelo Badalamenti. Twin Peaks Blue Velvet Mullholand Drive (Be interesting to see how he interprets Ridley! Paul Haslinger. Underworld While she was out Tangerine Dream

Haha K4kindle! I was thinking of the same composer.I thought Elliot Goldenthal's score to Alien 3 was spectacular, as well as his score to HEAT and Public Enemies. Another option would be Brian Reitzell, who scored 30 DAYS OF NIGHT. He actually creates his own instruments to create unique and strange sounds.

James Newton Howard -- the dude has done countless scores with all kinds of themes. It's why Hans Zimmer called him up to help him compose the Batman scores.

My wish list: Hans Zimmer + Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross I know that's probably too many cooks in the kitchen, but that would be awesome.

I like Zimmer a lot I particularly LOVED the score he did for "Black Rain". The sound score for the film was absolutely excellent.

I loved the score to the trailer. Its perfect! There`s some of Alien, and Aliens thrown in there, coupled with the horn and the scream it sounds awesome.
