Hi ALL, Just wanted to see what other people thought on my question. I read the synopsis for Prometheus recently. Am just trying to link up the ending of the film wth the beginning of ALIEN. Probably thinking too far ahead but i can't help it ha. Am guessing the ship that has crash landed on planet LV-426 was on it's way to "Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth" as payback for trying to steal the “bio-source code”. So on its journey one of their creatures was on the loose on the ship which in the prequel hopefully understand what actually happens. Took over the Space Jockey, died and crash landed. BUT??? Why in ALIEN was there a warning message sent out as RIPLEY discovered? Was this the ALIEN GODS actual SOS or just to catch humans that are unknown of there intentions??? Sorry if these are really stupid questions :/

Those questions will not be answered. The synopsis you all refer to would make a great film but it won't be Prometheus. Exactly what do we know about this movie. Fassbender interview said that things are happening and building and the intelligence of the first two thirds of the movie (politics amongst the crew) changes to the action in the final third. Ridley will film in 3D with "lots of innovations never seen before". Lindelof, the screen writer, said no face hugger or chest burster because we've seen it already. The story is completely original to the first alien. "Why would you want to spoil the outcome based on knowledge of the first alien film"? So it won't tie in to the derelict ship or LV426. His tagline for the movie is "Prometheus - or is it?" That suggests that you can't even count on the prometheus mythology for a hint to the story line. "Or can we?" News: "Scott will be in Iceland for two weeks to shoot, as he says, "the beginning of time." 'Prometheus' tells the story of the first contact between the alien gods and their "children," that is, us humans, who were genetically designed by the aliens, and how that meeting goes disastrously wrong".

Ha thanks Ruhaniya ; ) I thought to myself i was thinking a bit too muchabout it lol. But i think ASTROMAX is right. My questions will probably never be answered OR possibly at the end of Prometheus you might be able to come up with some idea in your head about what happened to the lead up to the first ALIEN film. Thanks for the feed back ASTROMAX. Can't wait for this film to come out. Am amazed from a small scene in ALIEN with the Space Jockey how they have come up with such a fantastic story, well from what we know of. When i saw the Space Jockey in that scene, i was like what the HELL is that? I want to know what happened!

Here are some quotes: Scott promises a "really tough, really nasty" film that involves gods and engineers of space. "I’ve always felt that really good prequels should be original movies," and the sequels to those prequels should not be the movie which already exists. … Show me something else which I can’t guess the possible outcome of. There is no suspense in inevitability. "So a true prequel should essentially proceed the events of the original film, but be about something entirely different, feature different characters, have an entirely different theme, although it takes place in that same world.

So as they have said.....Strands of Alien DNA....As you have explained there the film really is going to be its OWN FILM!!! It still sounds like its going to be a great film. Can't wait. Something new but similiar in ways. Thanks astromax.

Don't do that! Don't try to link up Alien w/Prometheus. Bad drogie, bad! No, that synopsis has been debunked. It's fake, rubish, junk. Here is the best evidence from the Prometheus screenwriter himself, Damon Lindelof. Lindelof: "I’ve always felt that really good prequels should be original movies," and the sequels to those prequels should not be the movie which already exists. (amax; Thats how we know the derelict ship and LV426 are not what Prometheus leads up to or ends with) "Show me something else which I can’t guess the possible outcome of. There is no suspense in inevitability." "So a true prequel should essentially proceed the events of the original film, but be about something entirely different, feature different characters, have an entirely different theme, although it takes place in that same world." Please folks, lets get on the same page and move on. Lets ask new questions. Like, has it been confirmed what star system the crew will journey to to meet their makers? Whats the science? Is there faster than light speeds? Should the movie worry about science like time dilation and thousands of questions more interesting? Are the spacejockey's a metaphore for us. How do we treat our planet? We have certainly couquered other countries only to teraform the indiginous species into insignificance. Would we do that to other worlds? Duh! This will probably be Ridley's "heavens Gate" or his "2001". The man has titanium balls. Just watch youtube videos on the Blade Runner shoot. All the also ran producers and money men on that movie come across as village idiots compared to Ridley. Ridley is the bomb.

Ha ha ha okay now i get your point. Well said ASTROMAX well said. With Ridley at the helm its gonna be a real treat. Blow your mind stuff. PLUS your right ASTROMAX questions. Cause my question has been answered long time ago lol. Who's next?

Please don't be angry with me but...Man…there’s a lot of conjecture and wild or…hopeful extrapolation goin’ on here… Quote from Ridley Scott: “While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the singular tale I’d been searching for, and finally return to this genre that’s so close to my heart.” And… Scott promises a "really tough, really nasty" film that involves gods and engineers of space. From script writer Damon Lindelof: “But I also do feel that this movie is the movie I would want to see as a fanboy, take place in that Alien universe, which precedes the events of the original Alien, but is not necessarily burdened by all the tropes of that franchise with Facehuggers and Chestbursters, and all that stuff that I love… but its sorta like, we’ve seen it before, can we do something different this time?” …From these cryptic statements, suddenly the Space Jockey’s race…are actually GODS, who created or “engineered” Humanity AND the Alien life forms in at least the original “ALIEN” film. WOW…QUITE A STRETCH! Talk about making a lot out of a little. I’m glad some of you guys don’t work in a courtroom. Kind of sounds like the end of a “Scooby Doo” episode…only "the gang” usually had convincing proof or evidence. Now, I don’t mean to be a “negative Nostromo”…but doesn’t all this seem a little premature or presumptuous? YOUUUUUUU CHOOOOOOSE! Respectfully, ~Neurion…the Skeptic

It's amazing sometimes how you can be blind and not see clear. After reading NEURION'S feedback there, i was thinking. I asked a question about the crashed ship on LV - 426 and how we might find out what happened. But like film of today is never what you think in your head - OBVIOUSLY lol but what i mean is when PROMETHEUS comes out and we see it. You might just say to yourself "Aww yeah that must have been one of the space ships we saw in the film that crashed landed on LV - 426" No big SCOOBY DOO MYSTERY ;) just a simple answer in the end. Am i right??? So thinking too far ahead me thinks ;) Cause my head is now wrecked thinking :P Just strandS of Alien DNA within the film as it was said. Done! End of!

This question MUST be answered, in order for the entire Alien saga to have any meaning. How did the company know of the existence of the Alien, what it could do, and that it was on LV-426. First, the special order for Ash, specifically stated that the specimen must be acquired and kept safe for transport. Crew expandable. Which means the company already knew about it. How did it know? Second, the warning signal picked up by Ripley was translated by mother. It was never fully translated and no one else ever picked it up. My theory...it never really exisited. The company created the false signal, as an excuse to wake up the crew. Mother, of course already programmed by the company to go to LV-426, was probably programmed by the company to relay a false signal. Easy to do. Third, Ripley throughout all the films, keeps mentioning that the company wants the alien for its bio-weapons division. Why? For what purpose? Is Earth at war with something else? Or does the company just want the knowledge of the alien's physiology. No offense to Mr. Scott, oh great one, but the series is not yours. No more than it belonged to James Cameroon who punted and avoided all the tough questions that should have been asked in Aliens. I was so psyched about a prequel since this has been bothering me for 30 some years, but if he is going to make some dark space opera on religious tripe, I am more hesitant about seeing it.

Actually, the ALIEN film series belongs to 20th Century Fox…to do with it as they will…“All other priorities are rescinded.” In that sense, FOX is not much different than the Weyland-Yutani Company. It’s all about profits…and making money “hand over fist.” The art or aesthetic aspect of it is Ridley Scott and his film crew’s concern. I don’t think that Ridley is too interested in tying PROMETHEUS to the previous ALIEN films too much. He’s always been kind of a “ground breaker” maverick director who does not like to repeat himself. From his and the screen writers statements so far, it seems that PROMETHEUS may answer a few old questions about the enigmatic Space Jockey and the “Alien” creature’s origins…but not be directly connected to the events occurring in the four “Alien” franchise films. Hence the change in the title to PROMETHEUS…instead of ALIEN 5, .5, “The Beginning” or some other dumb variation. Now, as far as pleasing the fans, I don’t know…there are a lot of different kinds of ALIEN fans out there. Some prefer the first film…some prefer the second. Some like mixing it up with “Predators”…some really enjoy all of films. And many will gobble up anything that has the title “Alien” attached to it. For myself, I’m a lover of the original ’79 film…predominantly. I also enjoy many of the aspects of Cameron’s ALIENS. I think PROMETHEUS with probably be a pretty good flick…as long as Ridley doesn’t try to challenge all traditional concepts and beliefs regarding the creation of terrestrial life. At least that’s a pet peeve of mine. Sometimes artists can be a bit self indulgent with their own political and religious agendas. Like the rest of us…Ridley doesn’t KNOW diddly about “The Great Mystery”…or whatever you want to call it. So I hope he doesn’t step on too many sacred toes with this story. That is one of my favorite concepts in the original “ALIEN,” the thing was just a survivor, whatever took to thrive, no “delusions of morality.” No message...simple…just survival. ~Neurion
