[img][/img] James Cameron's 2009 epic blockbuster Avatar is currently the worlds most successful film in terms of box office takings (second place belonging to Titanic, also directed by James Cameron), and tells the story of crippled marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) who is fast-tracked into the Avatar program on the distant world Pandora, after the death of his twin brother. Connected to a living, breathing hybrid of the planets native, dominant species, the Na'vi, Jake is able to walk again and is pulled into the mystical, magical world of Pandora by Neytiri, a female Na'vi warrior, and daughter of her tribes leader. Jake becomes torn between his loyalties to the Na'vi and to the Marine Corp and their quest of plundering the world for Unobtanium, a highly sought mineral. No doubt most of you will have seen the movie, and no doubt many of you will have heard that James Cameron is currently filming Avatar 2 and 3 back to back, with a possible fourth prequel movie also in the offering. But would you like to see a new Avatar forum sub-site on the Scified network, much like our Pacific Rim, Godzilla, Mad Max and Promethus forum sub-sites. If so cast your vote, either way, in this very thread - if the response is favorable Chris and myself will prepare said forum for you guys in the coming weeks.
