With a July14th 2017 release date, the production schedule for director Matt Reeves second sequel to 2011's epic reboot movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes is starting to take form. With principal photography expected to commence next year, director Reeves and producers Peter Chernin, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver will no doubt be scouting locations for the movie while gradually amassing a cast to help realize Reeves and Mark Bomback's script.
A recent report from THR has confirmed Gabriel Chavarria's addition to the cast, while elaborating that the young actors role is expected to be small. Additionally the report announces that Hunger Games and True Romance star Woody Harrelson, whom became a household name after starring in the US sitcom Cheers, has been cast as one of the leading human characters in the movie; more specifically as the movies antagonist. The American star of the forthcoming biopic LBJ will star opposite franchise star, British actor and motion capture specialist Andy Serkis, who is set to return as the movies protagonist Caesar.
