Could we be seeing a Venom and a Sinister Six movie within the next few years? According to Amazing Spider-Man 2 producer Matt Tolmach we will be seeing them before the Amazing Spider-Man 4...
The Venom movie should either feature or set up Carnage for a sequel movie, paving the way for the other symbiotes, such as Anti-Venom and Toxin.
"Before we know what we do with Spider-Man 4, we're going to do Sinister Six,Venom and Spider-Man 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we're just not at Spider-Man 4, because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don't know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be"
The Amazing Spider-Man 3, to be directed by Marc Webb is scheduled for a May 27th, 2016 release, with previous announcements from Sony stating that the fourth movie would be released May 4th 2018. Taking into account 2012's Amazing Spider-Man, and this years (2014) Amazing Spider-Man 2, it seems as though Sony intend to release a Spider-Man movie every two years, thus expanding the franchise into a cinematic universe. But Tolmachs above statement casts the fourth movies release date into doubt, meaning the May 4th 2018 release date may likely have been given to either the Sinister Six movie, to be directed by Drew Goddard, or a Venom movie directed by Alex Kurtzman.
Thanks to DOG for the news!
Lets hope for the latter!
