Yes, you read that headline correctly. A full six year before his supposed Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man actually appeared briefly in 2010's Iron Man 2.
This shocking revelation came from current Spider-Man actor Tom Holland, who confirmed to Huffington Post that the young boy rescued by Tony Stark in Iron Man 2 is actually a young Peter Parker. We can't see the kid's face as he's wearing an Iron Man mask, but this is what Holland had to say:
"I can confirm that, that is Peter Parker...I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I've just done a big, old spoiler, but it's out there now. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning."
So there you have it. All us fans had waited years for Spider-Man to appear in the MCU, and it turns out he had already shown up right under our noses. Watch the scene below.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7, 2017, with Holland reprising the role in next year's Avengers: Infinity War.
