Though in need of a digital age update the Ring series is set to dominate most horror fans wish list this year with two new chapters expected before the year's end. Rings is the second sequel to the Hollywood remake The Ring, will star The Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki and is expected to release October 28th. The Japanese however have really brought us something special with Sadako vs Kayako, a crossover movie that pits the two supernatural antagonists from The Ring and The Grudge against each other. Directed by Koji Shiraishi and Mizuki Yamamoto, Sadako vs Kayako will open in Japanese theaters June 18th. Expect a western release date in the fall.
There is good news for Grudge fans too. After the huge success of the Japanese series which culminated with its last instalment, Ju-On: The Final last year. Evil Dead writer and director Sam Raimi has started developing another Hollywood remake of the property, meaning that an American made Ring vs Grudge may be a possibility in the not-too-distant future.
