Director of 2012's mind bending time travel movie Looper, Rian Johnson's next movie is the mysterious Star Wars Episode VIII, which is said to begin filming this September. While admittedly very little is known about the forthcoming seventh episode in the space-opera saga The Force Awakens, even less is known about its sequel beyond the realms of rumor and speculation. Episode VIII, due for release in theatres in 2017, will continue the story established The Force Awakens while paving the way for the sequel trilogys climatic Eisode IX, to be directed by Jurassic World's Colin Trevorrow.
According to a report from Geek Nation, a casting call which has been released looking for a "young, strong female character", is calling into question many fan theories surrounding the true identity of Daisy Ridleys character "Rey", considering the actress has signed on to appear in each of the three sequels trilogy movies. The report heavily suggests that the new role for Episode VIII is to be the daughetr of Han Solo; a role many fans have speculated Rey would fill. Unfortunately Geek Nation have not revealed their anonymous source and as such, until we hear official confirmation we suggest taking this rumor with a pinch of salt.
