Another month, another headline act on the cover of EW, which means another week of news from their feature being drip fed across the net. This month the movies news website and paper magazine features one of next years many eagerly awaited comic book movies; X-Men Apocalypse.
Speaking about the movie, director Bryan Singer revealed why the movies villain En Sabah Nur AKA Apocalypse (portrayed by Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Oscar Isaac) makes his appearance at this moment in the movie franchises timeline, "It’s a chaotic world of conflict and war and destruction. It’s one giant civilization that now requires one giant culling. That’s why he needs special assistants in this process."
These special assistants, better known to comic book fans as the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse will be Storm, Psylocke, Angel and Magneto. Each will be beguiled from their lives by the powerful villain to serve him as he begins his timeless crusade of culling mutantkind. Star James McAvoy reveals that Apocalypses awakening forces the creation of the X-Men as a fighting force, "He’s not teaching anybody how to fight at the moment. He’s teaching people how to control their abilities so that they can work at a bank. But of course this movie challenges all of that. This is kind of the introduction to them. At the same time, it has concluding aspects of those previous stories."
And heres the new cast (minus Olivia Munn's Psylocke)...
Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers AKA Cyclops.
Sophie Turner as Jean Grey.
Alexandra Shipp as Ororo Munroe AKA Storm.
Kodi Smit-McPhee as Kurt Wagner AKA Nightcrawler.
Lana Condor as Jubilation Lee AKA Jubilee.
And if all that wasn't enough, check out the movies panel from last weekends Comic Conin San Diego...
