Hey guys, got another update for you all. Some of you may have heard about this, and some may even wonder why I post this if it isn't indie related? Well, I'm going to post it because I think it's still important to inform people of the things going on in the kaiju genre outside of PacRim and G2014.
Anyways, a couple days ago, it was reported that a japanese magazine coming out on MAY 16, is going to feature information on a new Gamera film. Apparently, it's going to feature concept art for the film as well.
Dread central has some more information on it, but this is pretty much all we know at this point. The real question is whether this film will be a continuation of the 90s series, a sequel to Gamera Little Braves (2006), or tell a new origin for the big turtle. In this new approaching era of american big budget kaiju films, how will the japanese studio respond and create this film? Could we possiibly see a kadokawa dark and realistic CGI Gamera? We will have to wait until May to find out.
Kadokawa, FYI, is the studio that owns Daiei which created the monster classic in 1965.
