While looking back at January, February, and whatever has passed of March, only four shows stand out from the rest of the crowd. That is because only four TV shows have held the #1 spot on Netflix’s top 10 most-watched shows in 2021.

There are several other shows which dominated the daily charts and deserved a spotlight as well. Every show on our list is a masterpiece in its own right. So without further ado, let’s visit our list for the top most-watched shows in 2021 for you to binge-watch.

Don’t be surprised if you couldn’t find a few of these shows in your Netflix account, as we all know that due to licensing restrictions, not every Netflix title will be available in your region. For example, if you are in Canada and want to watch The Office (US) - a US Netflix exclusive title - you will be disappointed to know that it isn’t available in your country.

Unless you take assistance from a top-notch VPN provider, you will never be able to get past Netflix’s regional restrictions. We will not leave our Canadian friends stranded. All they have to do is follow the guide to watch US Netflix in Canada, and the doors to the US Netflix library will be opened from them. Similarly, if you're in any other country, you can also connect to a US server and watch any blocked content on Netflix from anywhere in the world.

Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s get on with our list:

  1. Bridgerton

Created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, Bridgerton is a streaming television period drama series. Based on Julia Quinn’s novels set in the world of Regency-era London’s ton, when debutantes are presented at court.

This eight-episode first season was released on Netflix on December 25, 2020, and met with positive reviews. With a viewership of over 82 million households, there’s no surprise it has become the most-watched TV series on Netflix. It has been renewed for a second season.

  1. The Queen's Gambit

Based on Walter Tevis’s 1983 novel of the same name, The Queen’s Gambit is a coming-of-age period drama miniseries. Its title refers to a famous chess opening called “Queen’s Gambit.”

Written and directed by Scott Frank, the story follows Beth Harmon’s life (Played by Anya Taylor-Joy), an orphaned chess prodigy struggling with drug and alcohol dependency and her rise to the top of the chess world.

It became the most-watched scripted miniseries after it was launched on Netflix on October 23, 2020. Due to this TV series, public interest was increased in the game, while the show also received positive responses from the chess community.

On May 16, 2013, the series finale was aired and was viewed by an estimated 5.69 million viewers. Rolling stone was named The Office, one of the 100 greatest television shows of all time in 2016.

  1. Kobra Kai

Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg created this series which stars  Ralph Macchio and William Zabka. They both reprise their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence from the original film.

This series is set 34 years after the original movies and deals with the  "Miyagi-Verse" narrative from Johnny's point of view and rekindling his old rivalry with Daniel.

The series was initially launched on YouTube Red in 2018, but the production was stopped after YouTube decided to stop producing original scripted programming. Netflix acquired its right to stream in June 2020, released its third season on January 1, 2021, and renewed it for a fourth season.

  1. Schitt's Creek

Created by Eugene and Dan Levy, Schitt's Creek is a Canadian television sitcom series. It aired on the CBC Television network from January 13, 2015, to April 7, 2020.

The shows follow the formerly wealthy Rose family's trials and tribulations after their business manager steals the family business. The family is compelled to relocate to a small town they once purchased as a joke called Schitt's Creek.

Now living in a motel, Johnny Rose (played by Eugene Levy) and Moira Rose (played by Catherine O'Hara)—along with their adult children, David (played by Dan Levy) and Alexis (played by Annie Murphy)—must adapt to life without money and with each other. The show consists of 80 episodes which are spread over eight seasons.

Although limited in popularity throughout its first few seasons, the series' appearance on Netflix after its third season is credited for the show's sudden rise in stature, attributed to the "Netflix bump" and a dynamic social media presence.
