Kaiju is the Japanese term for giant monsters which developed as a subgenre under the Tokusatsu entertainment genre. After the second world war, it was created as a cautionary tale in Japan. And ever since it has developed to become more of a universal phenomenon. It's attracted those who enjoy playing monster-themed games or seeing monster-themed fights like Godzilla vs. Kong. Amongst the characters in this genre, the rampaging giant lizard, Godzilla stands out as the most famous of all.

The Evolution of the character in Hollywood has spanned over 30 movies. It’s therefore easy to figure out why we have so many games revolving around this creature. Of all the titles produced, there are some which took the world by storm. In this text, we have listed the most popular Godzilla games as rated by fans of the giant lizard.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee (2002)

Platforms: Xbox, Gameboy Advance, Gamecube

The monster lizard starred in its first 3D game in this production from Pipeworks Software. Prior to its introduction, none of the previously released Godzilla games were able to capture how it feels to be a Kaiju. With the Destroy all Monster Melee, players were able to enjoy the destruction of annoying buildings as displayed in the movies.

The game also featured a great soundtrack, very appealing graphics, and easy controls. All these factors made it an instant hit amongst Kaiju enthusiasts across the world. Similarly, players in the Middle East also enjoy some Kaiju-themed slots, as the genre becomes more popular.

Even better, comparison sites check for the best online casinos in Saudi Arabia for Kaiju slots and other games. In addition, you are able to play these slots for free and read top-notch reviews on each operator, to give you a better insight. And when you’re ready to play, you can claim a welcome bonus to boost your bankroll.

Godzilla: Save the Earth (2004)

Platforms: Xbox, PS2

With the previous release being a success, Pipeworks came up with a sequel called Godzilla: Save the Earth in 2004. Just like its predecessor, it kept up with the absorbing battles and easy controls.

The game was essentially the same as the Destroy all Monsters Melee, with a number of updates. These included enhanced graphics, added cutscenes as well as additional Kaiju characters. Some mini-games like playing a game of basketball with debris and buildings spiced up this version.

Godzilla (2014)

Platforms: PS3, PS4

Hardcore fans of the giant lizard were treated to another feast with the recent release in 2014. Natsume’s Godzilla was trailed by hot debates amongst enthusiasts of the fictional character.

The dissimilarities were due to the fact that the software developers seemed to put little to no effort into creating a proper brawling game. Some complaints included the sluggishness of the controls, the repetitive gameplay, and Kaiju having no balance. However, this release had bright sides such as stunning visuals, with the fights having movielike parts.

Godzilla: Kaiju Daikessen (1994)

Platforms: SNES

Kaiju Daikessen translates to Monster War in English and that is what this title provided fans with – a war between monsters. One of the earlier titles released, this version proved an excellent production even to even neutral gamers.

The 2D graphics may not be comparable to what we have today but were ideal at its release. It featured a sizable roster of Kaiju with gameplay resembling the iconic Street Fighter series. Players also enjoyed tight controls coupled with an exciting soundtrack.

Godzilla Generations: Maximum Impact (1999)

Platforms: Sega Dreamcast

Prior to Maximum Impact, there was a Godzilla Generations original which was unimpressive and so doesn’t make this list. The 1999 sequel was a truly good game, thanks to the huge improvements made.

Likewise, the addition of Supermecha Godzilla, coupled with the amazing soundtrack made this a really enjoyable and famous game. The version was released solely in Japan, so you might have to search for a translated one if you don’t understand the language.

Godzilla Daikaiju Battle Royale

Platforms: PC

The final title on our listing is the battle royale developed by a fan Alex Merdich. Playing the game for the first time makes you realize how much of a fan the developer was.

It featured a very large roster of several fighting monsters, several skins for characters, and even some audio tunes as in the original movies.
