With the first Star Wars spin off movie confirmed to be Gareth Edwards' Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, which will tell the story of the specialist team of rebel soldiers that stole the plans to the first Death Star, speculation has been rife as to what the focus for the second anthology movie, due in theatres in 2018, will be. Many fans upon learning that, according to Lucasfilm Story Group, officially Boba Fett did not die in the Sarlac Pit in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, thus believe that the sagas most notorious bounty hunter will get his own movie, possibly in the second Anthology movie. In a recent interview with Kotaku (via StarWars7News) Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, and rising star Daisy Ridley were questioned at length about the forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Disney and Lucasfilms plans for the sagas future. This is what Lucasfim president had to say about everyones favorite rogue...
Kotaku: In yesterday’s kick-off meeting, you joked that Jar-Jar does not come back. On that note, will Boba Fett come back? Also, is there a possibility of Ewok re-appearance?
Kennedy: "Don’t worry: Boba Fett is a high priority among our list, please wait. But seeing how the Ewoks could return is a little harder to imagine. It is quite difficult to give the many stars of Star Wars their own stories on film."
So it seems that officially Lucasfim may soon be announcing something regards Boba Fett. Lets hope that Kennedy has been listening to the fans and critics and gives the Fett, his own anthology movie, or at the very least a dynamic return in either episode VIII or IX. Maybe the bounty might make a surprise cameo appearance in The Force Awakens?
