The holiday season is upon us once again. It is time to loosen those belt buckles, dress those trees and spend a small fortune on presents for your family and friends. These past few years have seen us adopt newer holiday season traditions with the annual release of the Star Wars movies, and the obligatory Doctor Who Christmas specials. This year I would like to suggest another tradition for the holiday season; one that I have enjoyed in previous years and would now like to share with you all.
I would like to introduce to you the Jingle Jam. Every December since 2011 the UK based gaming VOD team The YogsCast have forgone all income from their gaming streams with all monies from subscriptions and donations going to a selection of charities; such as Oxfam, The Mental Health Foundation, and Special Effect (among many others). Viewers can watch the Jingle Jam streams live on Twitch or at any time on either Twitch or YouTube starting December 1st. In addition to subscriptions (including a free Twitch Prime donation when you link your Twitch account to your Amazon Prime account), and donations viewers can also purchase a collection of (over 50) games from Humble Bundle through the link shown during the streams, or buy purchasing Yogscast merchandise direct from The YogsCast with all proceeds going to the charities supported by the Jingle Jam, or as in introduced last year, the ability to donate to a charity of your own choice from a list of hundreds, with extra monies each year also coming from the sales of The YogsCast's annual Christmas song, which in past years have given us Diggy Diggy Hole, Best Friend at Christmas, and Carrot for a Cock.
Last year, during Jingle Jam 2016, The YogsCast raised an amazing $2,577,801, with the monies raised changing the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves, both in the UK and across the world.
Having recently moved offices, published their first video game CaveBlazers, and started YogsCast Studios the Bristol-based team is hoping to finish the year on a high and beat last years $2.5 million donation goal. Highlights of the Jingle jam will include the Jingle Cats stream, the Karaoke stream, and the Civ stream. Usually taking place on the first night YogsCast founders Lewis Brindley and Simon Lane will search the internet for a collection of painfully funny videos including those of cats singing Christmas Carols. During the Civ Stream most of the Yogscast regulars such as Lewis, Duncan Jones (not that one), Rythian, and Sjin will take part in a six-hour or more game of civilization (V or VI), while in the Karaoke Stream Yogscast CEO Mark Turpin is usually joined by Sjin, Pyrion Flax and Hat Films' Alex Smith. Being the trademark of anything YogsCast expect most of these streams to be filled with hilarious banter, salty rants, bad plays and many hours of entertainment, here's a taster from last year...
This year's Jingle Jam begins Friday 1st December at 11 am GMT on the YogsCast Twitch Channel and later on the YogsCast YouTube Channel. I hope you will join me and at the very least enjoy the YogsCasts streams this December.
