While promoting the much anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight recently at Wondercon the DC Panel let slip that a sequel to 2013's Injustice: Gods Amongst Us is in development, according to IGN. With developer of the original, NetherRealm, busy developing Mortal Kombat X it is unikely they will be helming the project. It is possibe that WB Games may develop the game themselves as they did with Batman: Arkham Origins, but this is mere speculation until more news is released. No release date was mentioned, though expect the game to be launched early 2016, to coincide with the May 6th 2016 release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
WHAT IS INJUSTICE?

Injustice is a fighting game featuring a wet dream wishlist of DC heroes and villains from developers NetherRealm. The game is reminiscent of NeverRealm's 2011 Mortal Kombat, sharing the same graphics engine (Unreal Engine 3) but using a more user-friendly control scheme, and even has a similar story mode in which the player plays through a sweeping, epic narrative controlling set characters at set times in the story. This is a game where you can punch your opponent into space, hit them with a parked car and even smack your enemy into another room where bosses from Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Asylum will play tennis with them before launching them into another area. The game has been praised by most critics as a simple to pick up yet challenging to master fighting game with plenty of super-craziness antics, characters and unlocks.

Storywise, the games plot tells of an alternate universe where the Joker tricked Superman into killing Lois, setting off a nuclear bomb in Metropolis which was synched to her heartbeat, killing millions. Overwhelmed with grief and anger Superman killed the Joker. To ensure another atrocity on this level never occured again Superman placed himself as the High Councillor of Earth; ruling the people he had once sworn to protect. In the prime DC Universe Jokers plan was thwarted when he and some of the JLA were transported into the Super-Ruled universe by Batman, leader of a rebellion against Superman and his dictatorship!
Injustice featured all-in-all a total of 42 characters, though some of these were alternate skins of existing characters, and some werent available for all formats. Some of these alternate skins allowed for the characters to look like they did in other releases; such as Superman looking like Henry Cavill from Man of Steel, or Batman and Co. looking like they did in the acclaimed Arkham City. The fights themselves took place on many familiar locations such as the Fortress of Solitude, the Batcave, Arkham Asylum and the Watchtower. The game also featured a talented voice cast including Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk (formerly of Firefly fame), Troy Baker and Nolan North (virtually every video game in existence), Mark Rolston (Aliens' Drake), Stephen Amell (Arrow) and of course Kevin Conroy.
INJUSTICE 2
Although no details on the sequel have been announced many fans of the original will be sure to have a wishlist such as more characters, more stages (one per character maybe), more moves etc. One element that will be sure to be on the fans wishlist is to not have aletrnate skin characters - for exampe in the first game Dick Grayson Nightwing and Damian Wayne Nightwing where just aletrnate costumes of the same character. Many fans woud like to see the character lineup bolstered by having these characters as unique, individual, separate characters, with their own unique moves list.
Fans have also called for greater balance; such as being able to avoid a wager or to be able to hit away thrown objects. While initially these elements where fun in the original, they quickly became tiresome especially when exploited for a cheap win. Other balancing elements that could be implemented would be the ability to counter moves, and possibly even combos
Finally, it goes without saying that fans woud like see alternate skins for the characters utilized with sets that allow characters to look like their counterparts in other media and adaptations. While this was implemented sparingly in the original, a complete comic, big and small screen, and other game set of Batman, Superman, Flash and Arrow outfits would please the fanboys and those with rose-tinted glasses - Adam West Batman v Dark Knight Rises Bane anyone, or Batfleck v Lynda Carter WonderWoman maybe?
