Alright guys, I’m back again with another look at some previous films. This time it’s short films, and you may or may not have heard of any of these and you’ll just have to read on!

Negadon: The Monster from Mars (2005)

This very well made animated short film about a haunted scientist who must fight a kaiju from Mars is created in the style of the golden age of kaiju films from the 60s. Written and Directed by Jun Awazu, the film beautifully instills the feeling and look from these older films while being created in amazing animation. In fact, the basic premise of a robot being piloted to fight an alien monster is classic, but still relevant today (Pacific Rim anyone?)

Godzilla X the Kaiju Killer (2009)

Probably one of the most well-known Godzilla fan films, this film is the story of XY-3, probably the last human in escapes to a future earth is overrun with kaiju, and is on the run from a sinister simeon. The film features a dramatic and thrilling plot, as well as a great new kaiju for the king of the monsters to battle. Written and Directed by Chris Elchesyn (Known on YouTube as Huntie).

Monster Roll (2012)

The shortest, short film on this list but probably one of the best short films I’ve seen in sometime. This comedic short involves sushi chefs banding together to fight sea monsters after the “balance between man and sea” has been broken. Written and Directed by Dan Black, this short was created as a pitch for the creation of a full length feature, and it’ll be interesting to see if that will happen.

Little Kaiju (2013)

This cute little short film features a little cute kaiju that has escaped from a vending machine walking through the dark alleyways of Japan. Written and Directed by Jonathon and Josh Baker.

Well there you go, another compilation of the previous and latest shorts. If there’s any that you believe I missed, please leave a comment below. Also, I will be covering up and coming Indie productions, so stay tuned for that!

I loved Negadon. The aesthetic to that film was right out of th golden age. It could've done without the filter and playing down the realism, but it really was a fantastic love letter the 1960s daikaiju.

Godzilla x The Kaiju Killer is something I'd rather forget. Huntie seems to forget that Godzilla should still be fun. Sure Terror of MechaGodzilla and GMK were dark and full of drab, but this was one long sulk-fest.

I'll have to check out the others soon. Fantastic site/blog you've got lined up here. Excellent idea.
