The last week and a half saw a ton of new sci-fi movie news hit the web. Directors for Toho's Godzilla (2016) movie were announced with the first piece of promotional concept art for the film. Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2 cast grew a little larger and added some more familiar faces, as well as some new ones, Mad Max: Fury Road got a slew of new TV spots, one new, high octane full-length trailer along with various promotional images and posters and Jurassic World saw a new movie clip. Also, we can't forget the barrage of new marketing content for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron movie! Read on for a full re-cap of last week's most popular headlines!

Starting off this re-cap is the exciting announcement of Godzilla 2016's directors, Anno Hideaki and Shinji Higuchi, both very familiar to Japanese audiences, for their work on films like Neon Genesis, Evangelion and Attack on Titan. The duo will be bringing Godzilla back to Japan for Toho's 2016 reboot. You can read a full write-up about their plans for the new Godzilla movie, here and check out the first concept artwork here:

In related Godzilla news, an expansion for last year's Godzilla The Game was announced, entitled Godzilla VS. As the title suggests, this expansion allows players to engage in online brawler-style battles, much like previous Godzilla fighting games. Players can play as a number of iconic Kaiju from the Godzilla franchise as well as Legendary's Godzilla 2014. The game will become available to US residents on the PlayStation 4 console. Whether this game will make its way to PC or XBox has yet to be confirmed. You can learn more about Godzilla VS here!

Next up is the blood-pumping, high octane, blow you out the seat of your pants TV spots and new trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road! These new TV spots and trailer really put Mad Max on the map for this summer's most anticipated blockbusters. After being pushed back, undergoing last-minute re-shoots along with a number of other production complications, many fans worried that Fury Road might never hit cinemas. But, thankfully, George Miller's masterpiece will come roaring into theaters next month and boy, will it be one epic thrill ride. You can watch the first new Fury Road trailer here, a new banner here, the latest Fury Road TV Spot here and a ton more new posters by visiting our Mad Max: Fury Road site here on Scified!

Following the exciting Mad Max news, we have new updates on Roland Emmerich's highly anticipated Independence Day sequel! The cast for Independence Day 2 continues to grow as Emmerich announced the return of Brent Spiner, who played the role of Dr. Brackish Okun in the original film - yes, the same one who supposedly "died" when the captive Alien used his dead corpse to try and escape Area 51. Turns out, Okun was just put in a comatose state, he's totally fine! In addition to Spiner's return, Roland also revealed that young new actress Joey King will also be starring in the sequel, though her character role has yet to be revealed.

Jurassic World also saw a monumental number of updates over the past week and a half, with new promotional images, movie stills, promotional product photos (like this one, showing the Mosasaurus about to eat a Great White Shark underwater!), a new movie clip and even the early release of its mobile-exclusive park-builder style game!

The movie clip, which aired as part of MTV Movie Awards' promotion, showcased a dialogue between the film's characters Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard). The clip itself didn't feature any action or Dinosaur footage, but did show us Owen and Claire's dynamic. You can watch the clip here, if you haven't already!

In addition to the new clip, Entertainment Weekly featured a Jurassic World preview in their latest issue, a cameo showing Ian Malcolm's book was released and the official Jurassic Park and Jurassic World social channels released a number of new promotional images and movie stills to hype fans up for the film's June 12th release date! All of these new images and movie clips can be seen at JurassicWorldNews.com!
