It is not uncommon these days for Indiana Jones to trend in the news based on a comment by Spielberg that he would love to do Indiana Jones five. However, until recently Ford has kept mostly tight lipped about it. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harrison Ford admitted that he would love to reprise his role as the character. This news has been taken as a 'confirmation' even though there is no official announcement of any kind yet from either Disney or Lucasfilm. Regardless, we will share the comment in full.
“Oh, yeah. Yeah, I’d love to do another Indiana Jones. A character that has a history and a potential, kind of a rollicking good movie ride for the audience, Steven Spielberg as a director — what’s not to like?”
This is the extent of his comments so far. And again not much to analyze here, although we are posting this due to the fact that this has once again gone viral. Frank Marshall recently has gone on the record to deny that Indiana Jones will be recast in the next movie. And Spielberg has mentioned he wishes to work with him again in a sequel. However, I would strongly advise that this should not be taken as a confirmation. This seems to be more of a general desire to resume the role, rather then of Ford actually having been in talks for anything.
It is good to read that he wishes to work with Spielberg again. However again these sorts of rumors have the tendancy to take on a life of their own. And in the absence of any official announcement it is best to be cautious as always. Just because an actor says one thing does not always mean that it will happen. As well as the fact that Lucasfilm will most likely not have any further official comment on Indiana Jones 5 until after the debut of Star Wars. But time will tell.
