Currently enjoying its mid-season break FOX prequel TV serial Gotham starring Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Sean Pertwee, David Mazouz, Robin Lord Taylor and Jada Pinkett Smith has become one of the most popular shows on TV. Set after the murders of Bruce Waynes parents the show tells the story of Gotham City's fall into darkness from the perspectives of its many main characters; be it Jim Gordons struggle against the corruption within the citys police force, or Bruce Waynes evolution from scared orphan into the Dark Knight, or Oswald Cobblepots manipulation of those around him. Despite being set many years before the heir to Wayne Enterprises becomes the cities guardian, the show has drawn in high praise from critics and a very respectful average of 10 million viewers per episode in the US alone.
Thus, it came as no surprise when network FOX announced at the Television Critics Association recently that the have renewed the show for a second season.
This is welcome news from FOX, who recently have ammassed a reputation of cancelling successful and high profiles shows such as Firefly (1 season), Alcatraz (1 season), Dollhouse (2 seasons), The Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles (2 seasons) and Fringe (5 seasons).
