Star Trek Beyond is the third movie in the rebooted Star Trek universe, that began in with 2009's Star Trek and continued with 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness. The movie was originally scheduled to begin principal photography this spring in Vancouver, Canada, but was delayed until June 25th due to rejections of scripts, most likely from Roberto Orci, before he left the project and co-star Simon Pegg was comissioned to assist Doug Jung in amending the movies script.
Directed by Justin Lin, who helped revitalise the Fast and Furious franchise and recently directed episodes of season two of the critically acclaimed HBO TV show True Detective, Star Trek Beyond is said to feature a whole new storyline after the outrage from fans that the last movie, Into Darkness, was just a modern day remake of the 1982 cult classic Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan. Beyond will see all of the main cast return with new additions to the cast including Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella, Joe Taslim, Lydia Wilson and Deep Roy.
Courtesy of Screencrush, after nearly two months of production we have our first, behind the scenes, look at Beyond with a goofed take sure to be on the movies gag reel which shows Boutella in full make up as an unknown, pale white skinned alien, Chris Pine and Anton Yelchin in, likely ceremonial, full uniform and Simon Pegg in the more traditional, classic uniform.
