The true beauty of these new Planet of the Ape movies is that in the confrontations between the Apes and the Humans, we ultimately side with the Apes. Of course the Apes are represented as honorable, innocent and noble whereas the humans are, for the most part at least, shown to be self-centered, arrogant war-mongers. It is almost ironic that in a plethora of science fiction movies the humans forever prevail against all threats and we cheer along, but with the PLanet of the Apes franchise our allegiances have turned agaiinst our own kind. Many films have touched upon the self destructive tendencies of human nature, but not many have opened our eyes to our primitive, selfish nature in the way these new films have done thus far.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theatres July 11th, and looks set to equal, if not surpass the success of its predecessor, 2011's Rise of the Planet of Apes - just check the truly epic final trailers below. And dont forget that, although unconfirmed as of yet, the 2016 sequel and finale in Caesars trilogy looks set to be remake of the classic 1968 original Planet of the Apes.
