Being typecast can be both a blessing and a curse to actors - while frequently landing similiar roles may help to pay the bills, it can stunt the possibility of grabbing a more complex, rewarding role in which a talented actor can relish in. So lets just hope this is a one off and not the start of a repeating trend for British actor Matt Smith, best known for recently playing the eleventh incarnation of the title role in British Sci-Fi phenomenon Doctor Who. The actor has now traded his TARDIS in for a TDE by grabbing himself a role in Terminator: Genesis, which is currently filming in New Orleans.
Matt Smith's new ruggedly handsome look!
There are no details as of yet as to which character Matt Smith will be playing, other than that his character is, according to Deadline, a major role and that the character will be further explored in the planned sequels. We suspect with his new shaven look that Matt Smith could be playing a member of the WHR (Worldwide Human Resistance), possibly a future version of Tim, John Connors friend from Terminator 2: Judgment Day (originally played by Danny Cooksey), or maybe (if the Ellison's have done their homework) General Perry, whom Kyle Reese mentioned in his interview with Dr. Silberman in 1984's The Terminator.
