Discovering Alien: Paradise Lost is a new web article series exclusive to Scified.com, which will aim to shed light on the many mysteries surrounding the highly anticipated upcoming Prometheus sequel, Alien: Paradise Lost. Before Scified was even launched, we started out as Prometheus-Movie.com – a fansite dedicated to covering the latest news, scoops and rumors for the Ridley Scott-directed Alien prequel. Since that website took off, we became the top website on the web to find and discuss news and early scoops on Prometheus. Due to the site’s popularity, we thankfully managed to accumulate some reputable friends – some of which who worked on or around the production of Prometheus. With the sequel beginning to film this January, we’ve attracted more people who again, work close to the production of this film. Throughout this series, we will try our best to limit the amount of spoilers we share and instead focus on revealing “guidelines” for discussion and point fans in the right direction for speculation. Prometheus was a great film for engaging discussion and Alien: Paradise Lost will undoubtedly elicit this same engagement on a whole new level. This series aims to help that process along and engage fans worldwide as we discuss and debate the many theories and mysteries present throughout this film’s production.

Before we get started I must make clear, that the information provided to us has not been confirmed or denied by 20th Century Fox. The information present in this series was also provided from information current as of March, 2015. Since then, the script for Alien: Paradise Lost may have been tweaked or revised, changing some of the details we’re about to cover throughout these articles. As a disclaimer, we urge everyone reading this to please take what we post with a grain of salt – as I did not read the script personally, there is no way for I or any member of our editorial staff can confirm or deny the legitimacy of this information. Despite our numerous credible plot leaks and scoops for Prometheus, consider this information as rumor.

Alright then, on with the show…

The Prometheus mission was NOT the first time man have been to the Zeta Reticuli system.

Yes, according to our sources, the Weyland mission to Zeta Reticuli was not the first time man... or mankind have been to that system. However, it may have been the first manned mission to LV-223 from Earth. The source didn’t expand on this plot element and remained vague with their description. What we could see is humans being created or experimented on in that system, on LV-223, or neighboring planets. On the flip side, it could mean Weyland or a competing company like Yutani had already sent a small group to the system to investigate. Remember, at the time of the Prometheus mission, Weyland had already terraformed and colonized many planets – deep space travel would not be something only the Weyland corp would be capable of.

Our source also mentioned that there would be a new crew (back in March, 2015), which has since been confirmed by Ridley Scott himself – adding legitimacy to our source’s statements. It’s likely this new group is part of a flashback scene in which they first visit the Zeta system, before the events of Prometheus. However, at this point these assumptions remain as such until more information surfaces.

Alien: Paradise Lost will have a much larger cast than Prometheus

The second piece of info provided to us explained that this film will utilize a much larger cast than Prometheus did. The reasoning for this will become apparent below…

We will be introduced to many new ‘beings’…

When our source explained the presence of new ‘beings’ they made sure to emphasize that the different ‘beings’ were more like different ‘races’ of the same species. Whether this relates to different beings/races within the Engineer population, Human population… or something else, has yet to be determined.

We’ll end our first segment of Discovering Alien: Paradise Lost here. We’ve got a lot more information to share over the coming weeks and months, but as you can imagine, we don’t want to spoil too much right away. Our next segment however will contain some of the most detailed information provided to us yet and it involves something very Alien… something fans of both the expanded Prometheus universe and Alien universe will be eager to learn more about.

Oh man! Back to the Night Shift cause I won't be getting any sleep...These "Milk and Cookies",are gona keep me awake! On the Weyland time line the signal the Nostromo encountered at LV 426 was nothing new to humanity, at about 40 years before the Prometheus, Earthings discovered this mysterious unknown transmission of Alien origin.  For sure they would of had the brightest minds and machines investigating this anomally.  Perhaps the signal was being sent to LV 223 in the same system hense why the Prometheus was sent there.  Who knows what else was discovered by Probes and other missions before this...why the secrecy, why Waylands urgency and Vickers insistence of going on a mission she wasn't interested in?  It's my opinion that the military might have been directly involved from day one and it's in their interest to control everything over this Alien discovery.  The vast machine is awaking! it's gears are moving it's circuits are lighting up!

I hear ya Ruh, keeping all the info secret is a challenge. My head has been spinning going over it all. I hope people enjoy the tid-bits as we near the film's production. There's a lot more I have to share, I'll aim to release a new article every week to keep everyone updated and hungry for more answers. The next post will be really fun...

With Prometheus taking place in 2093, I would think there's not much time for a pre-history of human exploration of the Zeta Reticulai system, be it manned or by probe. It's only 78 years in the future, and suspension of disbelief can only be carried so far in considering in that brief span of time numerous worlds on distant stars have been colonized and terraformed. Hopefully Ridley has learned a few things about the rate of scientific and engineering advancements of space travel from his "keeping it real" work on The Martian. There is no way people will be riding spaceships to other stars by 2093, but I am okay with imagining it for the sake of a good science fiction story.

So, yeah, if there was a previous mission to LV223, then it should be only a few years, at most, before the Prometheus mission.

I would like to think that in 2093 interstellar travel is depicted as relatively new, and the process of manned exploration of extrasolar planets is in its infancy in the Alien universe. An then maybe by Ripley's generation it can be considered old hat.

It's possible humans were experimented on / engineered on LV-223 or in that system. Technically that would explain mankind being there before but not necessarily a mission from Weyland or a different company. The pyramid with the human Skull or the Ampule room with the human face, it's certainly possible.

I'm kinda hoping that it was Yutani corp that got out ahead of Weyland, that would be an intersting story I think. I'd like to see Scott to start working them into the picture because at this point in the story ( Prometheus ) Yutani and Weyland are still separate companies.

Also, please, i beg you, don't make us wait until LATE next week! lol. Next week officially starts on Sunday, tell us then ;) (okay okay Monday is fine too, but no later than that!)
