Former Dexter actor David Zayas has been cast as mob boss Salvatore Maroni in Fox's upcoming Batman prequel Gotham.
Fans of the comics will remember that Maroni was the man responsible fordisfiguring district attorney Harvey Dent, resulting in his transformation into Two-Face. He was most recently seen in 2008's The Dark Knight, played by Eric Roberts.
Maroni is second only to Carmine The Roman Falconi in his power and reach in the city of Gotham. As he strives to gain more territory in Gotham, he’ll find himself on a crash course with his rival Falcone (John Doman) for control of the city.
Gotham comes from executive producer Bruno Heller (Rome) and follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.
Gotham premieres September 22 on Fox
