The prequel trilogy to the Planet of the Apes movies, or more correctly the Caesar trilogy, which started with 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes looks et to overshadow the original movies, especially when it comes to performances. James Franco was surprisingly likeable and easy to associate with as Dr. Will Rodman, John Lithgow was amazing and moving as Rodman's father suffering from Alzheimers, and Andy Serkis as Caeser was phenomenal and powerful, a bar he looks set to surpass in this July's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
